Amazon Studios Is Now Officially Amazon MGM Studios
Amazon bought the legendary studio in March 2022
Pablo Iacoviello, director of monetization for local originals has revealed that Amazon Studios has rebranded as Amazon MGM Studios. The reveal came during a keynote speech on October 3 at a TV forum during Iberseries Plantino Industria in Madrid. Being to a Spanish audience, a lot of his speech was about how the company was committed to Spanish and Latin American original series and films, but that’s not quite for here. The program ran until October 6.
The rebrand is the next logical step after the platform giant launched Amazon MGM Studios Distribution in May, a worldwide international film and TV distribution unit that sells Amazon originals and MGM’s deep vault of titles. This is not an absorption of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It is the merger of the studio’s parent company MGM Holdings into Amazon Studios, after Amazon bought MGM in March 2022.
