Ashley Johnson Boards 'Among Us' Animated Series, Reuniting With 'Infinity Train' Creator Owen Dennis
The 'The Last Of Us' actress is featured in the first slew of stars announced Friday
We’ve got a sus thing to show you so tell all boys, girls, and enbies. The Among Us animated series from CBS Studios has announced the voice cast of its crew. Created and executive produced by Infinity Train creator Owen Dennis and based on the highly popular game, the crew consists of Ashley Johnson, Yvette Nicole Brown, Randall Park and Elijah Wood.
Yes, these are all big names, but Johnson, probably best known for her roles across both mediums of the The Last Of Us franchise, stands out the most. Among the litany of voiceover roles over her career that include Terra on Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! and Gwen in the Ben 10 franchise, she starred as Tulip and MT/Lake in the first two seasons of Dennis’s previous series, the beloved Cartoon Network and HBO Max animated anthology Infinity Train, marking a reunion for the two of them.
Johnson will voice Purple, who is Chief of Security and all about safety, suspicion, and sarcasm, tasked with a wet blanket, and fun fact: has trust issues! Brown, known for Community, Drake & Josh, The Odd Couple, and most recently of Frog and Toad, will voice Orange, who works in HR as a spineless corporate shill whose task is to eliminate redundancy, redundantly, and will fire you over email. Park is known for Fresh Off the Boat, Always Be My Maybe, his role as Jimmy Woo in the MCU, as Stephen Shin in the Aquaman movies, and a small role in a The Office cold open that has people continuing the gag to this day, making him John Krasinski. He’s playing Red, Captain of The Skeld. He is a people-pleaser and a blowhard who failed upwards and is tasked with leadership and confidence. And then there’s Elijah Wood, star of The Lord of the Rings, Wilfred and Over the Garden Wall, who’s playing Green, whose payment in pizzas makes him in all senses unpaid, but he’s happy to be there and do whatever he’s told.
The series’s official logline matches that of the game’s premise, stating “Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the “Impostor” or fall victim to its murderous designs.” Titmouse, whose full series work started with Metalocalypse and now includes Pupstruction, Royal Crackers, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with dozens of titles in the intervening years, serves as the animation studio for the series.
Among Us is developed by CBS Eye Animation Productions in partnership with independent game studio Innersloth, who made the original game. Its other executive producers are Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser of Innersloth, along with Titmouse’s Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina. No home has been announced yet.
