DC Studios Dates 'Clayface' For Fall 2026, 'Dynamic Duo' For 2028
Daters gonna date for a Clayface-off
DC Studios’s has officially joined Marvel Studios in spreading its plans. The studio has dated two of its officially announced films, Clayface and the animated Dynamic Duo.
Clayface was just reported Tuesday and has already been scheduled for September 11, 2026. No I couldn’t come up with any good jokes, even good tasteless ones. It’s there because Warner Bros. found success over the past decade in that post-Labor Day weekend with the It duo, The Nun and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It’s also three weeks before The Batman Part II on October 2. As previously reported, it’s being written by Mike Flanagan, director of Doctor Sleep and creator of Netflix’s The Haunting, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher, who had previously tweeted that he was “really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy” before pitching it to DC Studios last year. Due to other commitments however, he won’t be directing. While a director announcement was reported as “imminent” it wasn’t found here. It’s worth apologizing though for accidentally omitting that Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris will produce through their company 6th & Idaho Productions.
Studio co-CEO James Gunn, who is producing the film with other co-CEO Peter Safran posted to his array of socials not only confirming the greenlight, but its setting in the new DC Universe. He even debunked rumors of a double dip due to the character’s alleged, less-credibly reported presence in Reeves’s The Batman Part II, except a first draft doesn’t exist, telling on Threads “Firstly, no. Secondly, couldn’t be the case as there hasn’t yet been a first draft of a script.” This should mean that Alan Tudyk, who is voicing the character on Creature Commandos, should be playing the character in the film since all castings are intended to transcend mediums and result in reprisals in both live action and animation. Chantal Nong is executive producing the film about Batman’s shapeshifting rogue.
Meanwhile DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s Dynamic Duo is set to strike all the way out on June 30, 2028, and will be available in IMAX. The dynamic duo in question is Robins Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, specifically their early days as orphan thieves calling themselves the Dynamic Duo. It is directed by Arthur Mintz and written by Matthew Aldrich. As far as producers, it’s all of Clayface’s (same levels too), with the addition of Mintz and Theresa Andersson who are founders and CEOs of Swaybox, the animation studio being utilized.
Deadline is reporting that the trailer for Superman, the film to kick off the new DC Universe, will be released early next week, maybe in time for trailer packages a certain other blue blur from another planet’s third film. They also reveal that May 29, 2026 has been flagged for the studio, just four weeks before Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, so the former probably is some sort of Elseworld, as well as March 5, 2027.
