Disney Channel’s 'Best Band In The World' Becomes 'Electric Bloom'
Get ready to rock out as a second sitcom debuts this July
We’ve previously explored how Disney Channel’s sitcom slate became super thin, with a period of depletion that ended with the premiere of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. But it was never healthy for it to be the entire slate. And if cable is dying, it seems the network is ready to turn up the music…and music sales. That’s where Electric Bloom, which worked under the title How We Became the Biggest Band in the World, comes in. Ready to haul the network back to the days of Miley, Selena, Demi, the Jonas Brothers, and dozens of other attempts of varying success, they’ve set the two-episode series premiere for Thursday, July 10, at 8:35 p.m. EDT/PDT, following the world premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires. Truly just like the old days. Unlike recent new series, episodes will premiere singularly thereafter.
Electric Bloom is about the three members of the now-eponymous pop group, as they reminisce about the history of their band and friendship, which began when they met in middle school. Its logline tells that “the girls go on a journey to becoming the biggest band in the world and the best friends in the universe.” The cast features Lumi Pollack as perfectly put-together Posey, newcomers Carmen Sanchez as school rebel Jade and Ruby Marino as quirky and optimistic Tulip, and Nathaniel Buescher as class crush and fan of the band Lucas. Eric Friedman serves as showrunner and executive producer with Alex Fox and Rachel Lewis, who serve as writers. Legendary singer Diane Warren executive produces with Bahareh Batmang, writing lthe majority of the songs for the series, including all songs in the pilot and the theme song. Jody Hahn directed and executive produced the pilot.
Disney Channel Rebuilds Its Sitcom Slate With New 'Vampirina' Series And 'How We Became the Biggest Band in the World'
We’ve seen Disney bring plenty of their animated films to live-action with remakes, we’ve even seen Kim Possible get the live-action treatment as a Disney Channel Original Movie. The most worrying sight however was the network spent several weeks this year without a single active live-action sitcom on
The teaser goes backstage in the midst of typical preparation chaos, before flashing back to the trio meeting for the first time, play their first gig and landing on their band name, on their way to global music domination. The rollout for Disney+ is quite interesting too, as the first 13 episodes will start streaming on September 17, with more episodes rolling out in October. The press release does not give an episode count for the full first season. It’s unclear how many episodes the first season has, the press release doesn’t tell. How many of the first 13 will be out before the first drop? How many will get an early Disney+ release in either batch? You’ll just have to watch to find out.
Dip A Toe In The 'American Dad! Greatest Hits' Tracklist
We are now less than a week away from the newest season of American Dad!, which premieres Monday on TBS. Its first soundtrack, American Dad! Greatest Hits will be released Friday, and slowly the show’s social channels are revealing the tracklist. When I started writing the article, TBS’s tracklist playlist only featured 12 of the 17 songs, throwing the …
