Elphaba And Glinda Reunite In 'Wicked: For Good' First Footage At CinemaCon
Universal can make it come true! We deserve the footage, it can ROCK!
Who can say if attendance is better? CinemaCon Wednesday was a bit lighter for the mainstream, especially those turned off by Christian media as the day portion had Angel Studios, but the night was headlined by Universal, with DreamWorks Animation and Focus Features of course. Apparently Amazon MGM was after. The second part of the Wicked musical adaptation Wicked: For Good, which had its poster adorning the facilities, is less than 8 months away, and everyone from casuals to the most rabid fans wondered just how much from the film was going to be seen for the first time. Director Jon M. Chu and stars Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, last christened the Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda, were on hand, one month since their Oscars performance. They played the first teaser to its theater owner audience.
“Elphaba, I know you’re out there,” Glinda says in voiceover, emerging from Emerald City castles. It summons Elphaba to the balcony. “This is about the Wizard and I,” the targeted witch explains. She writes in the sky “OUR WIZARD LIES”. Glinda wears her crown as Fiyero and his men are in pursuit. “Elphaba, they’re coming for you. Think about what we can do together,” Glinda warns leaning her head on the green one’s shoulder from part one. Cut to her wedding to Fiyero. The Wizard demands of Dorothy and pals the Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, “Bring me the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West!” It closes with Elphaba packing up her hat which flies into her hand, and her broom into the other. “I’m off to see the wizard!” Variety’s description started (apparently) later, that Elphaba is studying up on the Grimmerie, while Glinda is seen adjusts her crown under the wing of the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). The Wicked Witch can’t ignore us forever,” Morrible growls. There are glimpses of the flying monkeys, and Dorothy’s group arriving in Oz and preparing to meet the Wizard in front of his giant head, something that slipped into and now carries from part one’s own trailers.
'Wicked: Part Two' Title Has Changed 'For Good'
I hope you’re happy, I hope you’re happy now. Wicked director Jon M. Chu is apparently who can say whether changing the title of the film’s second part is for the better, and he is insisting so. The fervent defense came after Universal Pictures officially revealed the true subtitle for that second part in December. Instead of
Having been shot directly after Part One, For Good has wrapped production and retains Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, and Ethan Slater as Boq, and Marissa Bode as Nessarose. Winnie Holzman, the musical’s book writer who adapted Gregory Maguire’s novel for it, wrote the For Good script with co-writer Dana Fox. Broadway musical songwriter Stephen Schwartz executive produces alongside Jared LeBoff and David Nicksay, while producers include Marc Platt and David Stone. Wicked: For Good releases in theaters on November 21, 2025.
