'Fear Street: Prom Queen' Trailer Sends Killers Back To School
The film releases on Netflix on May 23. How many states’ schools are out then?
On May 23, Netflix’s Fear Street film series returns after four years, not with a trilogy released over consecutive weeks, but a new standalone film, Fear Street: Prom Queen that takes us back to Shadyside, Ohio as the throughline. The streamer released the first trailer Tuesday, mere weeks before the next film based on R.L. Stine’s Fear Street books will be released.
Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is campaigning both sweetly and viciously for the crown. When a gutsy outsider becomes a surprise nomination to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the big night for the class of ’88 is suddenly on edge. The trailer conveys it well enough without needing a play-by-play.

The ensemble cast includes India Fowler as Lori Granger, Suzanna Son as Megan Rogers, Fina Strazza as Tiffany Falconer, Ariana Greenblatt as Christy Renault, Ella Rubin as Melissa McKendrick, Ilan O’Driscoll as Linda Harper, Rebecca Ablack as Debbie Winters, as well as David Iacono, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, Katherine Waterston, Darrin Baker, Damian Romeo, Dakota Taylor, Eden Summer Gilmore, Brennan Clost, and Cecilia Lee.
