'Fixed' Sniffs And Snips At Official Trailer As Everyone’s Gotta Go
It’s a pre-cut night in this Genndy Tartakovsky-directed, R-rated Sony Pictures Animation film releasing August 13 on Netflix
You want another trailer for Sony Pictures Animation’s long-awaited Genndy Tartakovsky-directed Fixed two weeks before release? Netflix has your butts covered, and that’s exactly what happened Tuesday morning ahead of the August 13 unleashing. They also released the first clip, interestingly (at least seemingly) on Twitter first, but turned out to have been posted to the Netflix Is A Joke YouTube channel rather than the main.
The trailer starts with Bull, voiced by Adam Devine being chased away from his latest session humping Nana’s leg. It’s revealed as he runs away that the buttholes are being censored, which might most explain the directors’ cut labeling of the first trailer. After he’s chatting with his Kathryn Hahn-voiced crush Honey (with his stuff out), all the dogs head to the dog park Wiggly Field for a butt-sniffing party. After Russell is found to have been snipped, Bull finds himself getting the same pre-neutering treatment that was described, and his friends take him on that one last night with his stuff. Chasing squirrels, getting skunked, getting bit by cats, and ending up at that strip club, ready to get wild. But he does get caught by Honey while inside another dog. The clip, meanwhile, features all the dogs rushing to do their business and ultimately relieving themselves successfully.
Netflix Gets The Dog Out One Last Time In 'Fixed' Trailer
It’s an incredibly and probably unexpected great time for the partnership between Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix, as KPop Demon Hunters tops the Billboard charts with “Golden” and barrels toward being the streamer’s most-watched original animated film just four weeks after release into a 90-day tracking window. The duo are ready to follow that up w…
“I was born to play a fat, hairy dog terrified of losing his balls. I am Bull, and Bull is me,” said DeVine. “Genndy is a legend, and if anyone’s going to be in charge of my balls, I’m glad it’s him.”
Tartakovsky meanwhile said “Wow! What a journey! In 2010 I pitched to Sony Pictures Animation an idea of a mature themed animated movie based on my high school friends. I thought if I could caricature and enhance the personalities and relationships then the audience will find them as funny as I do. In my first pitch I focused the story and entertainment on characters rather than a high concept idea but still needed a stronger concept than the generic road trip story I was pitching.” He continued “It is not often that a great idea appears effortlessly out of thin air, but that day, at that very moment, the animation Gods fired down a thunderbolt of an idea! ‘What if the main character, a dog, finds out he will get neutered in the morning?’ That was it! In my 30 years of pitching and selling never has an idea come to me so quickly and was received so fondly. An idea that in one sentence was so clear that most people smiled, or even laughed. Originally, I was pitching Fixed as a CG movie since a 2D feature was ‘out of the question!’ Incredibly enough and to everyone’s surprise we actually sold it as a 2D, hand drawn, animated feature! Loving the art of hand drawn animation as much as I do, I was elated! Giddy really. We were all set to make an original 2D, rated R, fully animated movie, truly a unicorn.”
The cast features Idris Elba voices Bull’s best friend Rocco, Bobby Moynihan as Lucky, Fred Armisen as Fetch, and Beck Bennett as Sterling, with as Bull’s love interest Honey, River Gallo as Frankie, and Michelle Buteau as Molasses. Tartakovsky did the screenplay with Jon Vitti, and they both did the story with Steve Greenberg and Rich Lufrano. Michelle Murdocca produces, with Christian Roedel as co-producer.
