Fox Renews 'Krapopolis', 'Grimsburg', And 'Universal Basic Guys'
That’s seven of eight, let’s see how it goes
Animation Domination might be sacrificing Alaska in order to return to Langley. Fox has renewed three of their animated series to further strengthen their Animation Domination block for the 2025-2026 season: Grimsburg has been granted its third season, Krapopolis its fifth, and Universal Basic Guys its third.
This was easily expected, as they’d need enough shows in a four-slot block to justify the juggle that resulted in the block’s four shows from 20th Century Studios, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and the returning American Dad! having their linear episode count for the next four seasons reduced to 15 episodes each. And this is without potential new animated pickups. Krapopolis is most guaranteed to keep pace, as a Fox Entertainment Studios-owned series with a lot of support renewed through season three before its September 2023 premiere, got season 4 before the current second and now its fifth at the end of it. Its initial NFT push put a lot like myself off of it but it was quickly kaput. It is the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters in mythical ancient Greece trying to run one of the world’s first cities, while also trying their best to not kill each other in the process, while Deliria, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices, is only interested in defending civilization if it means she’ll be worshipped more than hated up on Mt. Olympus. Created and executive produced by Dan Harmon, the cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Richard Ayoade and Matt Berry. It is produced by Bento Box Entertainment. Alex Rubens is showrunner and executive produces alongside Steve Levy and Eric Kaplan.
Have No Fears, Fox Just Gave Four More Years To 'Simpsons', 'Bob’s', 'Family Guy', Returning 'American Dad!'
How about a crazy wedding? Thanks to Lisa Simpson voice actress Yeardley Smith, we knew that even though this was a contract year for The Simpsons, the show would not be ending just yet at Fox. As is customary, multi-season renewals for it, Bob’s Burgers
Grimsburg stars Jon Hamm as Marvin Flute, acclaimed detective, who caught a cannibal clown and correctly identified a mid-century modern armoire. But to figure out himself, he returns to Grimsburg, a town full of secrets among its people, and fix his reputation to his fellow detectives, ferocious ex-wife and his “lovably unstable” son. Hamm’s co-stars include Erinn Hayes, Rachel Dratch, Alan Tudyk, and Greg Chun, as well as Kevin Michael Richardson, who has voiced major recurring roles on Family Guy and American Dad! while being a crucial utility player on The Simpsons before taking on Judge Snyder and Dr. Hibbert. Also born from Fox Entertainment Studios and Bento Box Entertainment, the series is created by Catlan McClelland and Matthew Schlissel, who serve as consultants, while Chadd Gindin is executive producer and showrunner. Hamm is also among the executive producers, along with Connie Tavel, and Gail Berman and Hend Baghdady of The Jackal Group.
Universal Basic Guys, which premiered in September, was already renewed for its second season last May and now has its third. Two brothers, Mark and Hank Hoagies (series co-creator Adam Malamut) lose their jobs to automation and are given $3,000 a month from a new basic income program. Now, they’re “finding purpose in a world where they’re no longer needed” with all their new free time and free money. The series also stars Talia Genevieve, Fred Armisen and Ally Maki and is produced by Bento Box Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television. Adam and Craig Malamut created the series on which they serve as executive producers and showrunners. Shane Kosakowski is the other executive producer.
The only one left with an unclear fate is The Great North, currently in its fifth season. Starring Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Dulce Sloan and Will Forte, President Eric Schrier recently said that it was “still under consideration” at the network. “I don’t think Fox has made a final determination on it; it’s another show that we really love. It’d be great for it to continue, but I understand if they’re not able to,” he said. Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Wendy Molyneux and Minty Lewis created the series, which too is made at 20th TVA. It would certainly be a shame for it to be the only casualty.
'Rick And Morty' Coughs Up Season 8 Trailer
Easter may be over, but that’s not going to stop Adult Swim from cutting a Rick and Morty season 8 trailer that seems to be chock full of scenes from the fourth episode “The Last Temptation of Jerry”, which has been the most promoted of the episodes so far, no doubt for seasonal reasons. Releasing said trailer the day after Easter Monday (which is recog…
