It's A Ship! 'Godzilla vs. Kong' Sequel Is 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire'; See The Teaser Trailer
Hot lizard on ape action is on the way
Legendary Pictures has revealed the title for the next movie in the MonsterVerse. Following up from 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, its direct sequel will be called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. It is set to be released on March 14, 2024.
So obviously it’s going to be a hot, steamy romantic comedy between the two title characters as they overpower the planet together, as seen in the red skies wasteland-featuring teaser also released to reveal the title, where Kong sits on his throne amid the skeletal ruins of the Hollow Earth. There’s a hidden secret yet to be revealed. Yeah they’re probably fucking.
Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire brings back Adam Wingard as director following the first battle. The script comes from Simon Barrett. Rebecca Hall also returns, starring once again as Dr. Ilene Andrews, so it’s not going to be one of those cases where the previous film’s lead gets reduced screentime in the sequel. Rejoining her are Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Jia. Joining them are Dan Stevens, Fala Chen, and Rachel House, whose role are still unknown.
The teaser is below, and the MonsterVerse, which began with 2014’s Godzilla will be expanding beyond films with its upcoming Skull Island anime on Netflix, and Godzilla and the Titans, a live action series for Apple TV+ starring Wyatt and Kurt Russell, as well as Kiersey Clemons.
