Juno Temple In Talks To Join Sony and Marvel’s 'Venom 3'
The actress's credits include the 'Maleficent' movies and 'Vinyl'
Ted Lasso star Juno Temple is set to join Sony’s Spider-Man Universe as she is in negotiations for a lead role in Sony and Marvel’s Venom 3.
Just as plot details are so under wraps, so are any details about her character. Neither party had any comment, presumably to not disrupt those negotiations in any way as they wrap. Only Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock and voices the Venom symbiote, is currently solidly attached, while Kelly Marcel will be helming it and making her debut as director. Marcel is also handling the screenplay having developed the film’s story with Hardy. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker also are producing.
2018’s Venom was directed by Ruben Fleischer and the first of Sony’s films centered on Spider-Man villains without, for the most part, actually using Spider-Man, who is positioned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, currently separate from the villains’ universes explored thus far. The first sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, was released in 2021 and directed by Andy Serkis. Venom 3 follows these films which have earned a combined $1.36 billion. Morbius, about the character Dr. Michael Morbius, known as the Living Vampire in the comics, was released in April 2022. Films centered on Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, and El Muerto are coming October 6, 2023, January 12, 2024 and February 16, 2024 respectively. Venom 3 has no release date as of writing.
With her role as Keeley Jones on Ted Lasso reportedly ending, Temple has already filmed the fifth season of Fargo, which is close to wrapping, in the lead role of Dot. Her other film roles include The Other Boleyn Girl, Atonement, and the Maleficent films, where she played Thistletwit. She has also had series regular roles in Vinyl and Dirty John, and appeared in the Paramount+ miniseries The Offer.
