Karan Soni Is Ready For Two Marvel Roles, Including A Return For 'Deadpool 3'
The 'Detective Pikachu' actor is staying quite busy
Karan Soni is putting his stamp on the Marvel multiverse. The actor is set to play Pavitr Prabhakar, Spider-Man India, in Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and return as Dopinder in Marvel Studios’s upcoming Deadpool 3.
With so many Spider-Man variants one might expect that “Oh they just got him for a few lines”, but according to One Take News, who broke the story, their sources say the role is going to at least be significant, but there aren’t any more details. Soni even confirmed the news on Instagram with a screenshot of The Hollywood Reporter’s pickup of the story. Spider-Man India’s presence in the film was confirmed via Funko Pop. Introduced in 2005, Prabhakar’s origin story for becoming Spider-Man India is most certainly an Indian-flavored version of Peter’s. He’s from Mumbai and was bestowed his powers by an ancient yogi.
But that’s not all, he and Leslie Uggams will be returning for Deadpool 3, as Wade Wilson allies Dopinder and Blind Al, meaning that the supporting cast will probably not be as abandoned as that of Ant-Man’s, where that happened aside from a silent Jimmy Woo cameo. Dopinder is a cab driver and is considered Deadpool’s sidekick, while Blind Al is Deadpool’s smartass roommate who provides the best comedy. They join Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and Emma Corrin and Matthew McFayden.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse releases in theaters on June 2, 2023. Its sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, will be released on March 29, 2024, and Deadpool 3 will be released on November 8, 2024.
