'Manifest' And 'Never Have I Ever' Finale Dates Announced At Netflix
The supernatural drama and the coming-of-age comedy series are ending in June
Doomsday is approaching for two of Netflix’s beloved shows. The streamer has announced premiere dates for the final seasons of Manifest and Never Have I Ever, and not only are they close, but in proximity to each other as well.
For Manifest, the back half of the fourth season the streamer rescued it for will land on June 2. It’s a plot-relevant date as it’s the destined death date of the passengers of Flight 828: June 2, 2024, but of course a year short.
Manifest stars Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Ty Doran, Parveen Kaur, and Holly Taylor. It follows the passengers of Montego Air Flight 828, who landed in New York to discover they’d been missing for five years. As they worked to find out how that happened, they learned it was part of something bigger than they could have ever imagined. It had gotten to a point where season four left off with Zeke using empathic powers to save Cal’s life at the cost of his own. Angelina, the kidnapper of youngest daughter Olive, absorbed a sapphire and emerged looking like she could bring the apocalypse, unleashing a cataclysmic volcanic fissure. Manifest showrunner Jeff Rake has said these final 10 episodes pick up a “number of months” later. They will continue to develop plot points built up over the series that would be a lot to get into here.
Meanwhile, it’s Devi’s senior year on Never Have I Ever, and it’s coming just 6 days later, on Thursday, June 8. Devi, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, is a first-generation Indian American who’s coping with the loss of her recently passed dad while still having to navigate the social and romantic pitfalls of high school. The comedy series was created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher. The season’s cast includes Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, Ramona Young, and in his first new role since his firing from The Goldbergs, Jeff Garlin as Len, a highly-regarded sandwich maker who may be a romantic interest for Devi’s mother Nirmala.
These are far from the only Netflix series with their ends in sight, with Big Mouth spinoff series Human Resources ending the very next day, while The Crown, The Umbrella Academy, Hilda, and Mo are also set to end this year. You and Stranger Things are farther off in 2024, as is Big Mouth itself, though it and Cobra Kai’s final seasons have been (notably documented as) disrupted by the Writers Guild of America strike that commenced on Tuesday.
