Marvel Studios Vision Series Adds Todd Stashwick
The actor appeared in the Terry Matalas-run third season of 'Star Trek: Picard'
Todd Stashwick is ready to shoot. The 12 Monkeys actor has signed on to reunite with Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas for the latter’s next showrunning gig, Marvel Studios’s upcoming Vision series for Disney+. The series is from Marvel Television and stars the returning Paul Bettany as Vision.
Stashwick played Starfleet Captain Liam Shaw, who was a foil and hurdle for Jean-Luc Picard in that final season of Star Trek: Picard. His history with Matalas goes back even further with Syfy’s series adaptation of the 1995 Terry Gilliam-directed film 12 Monkeys, where Matalas is credited as a co-creator. Stashwick played Theodore Deacon, recurring first, promoted to regular for the latter three seasons, theleader of a brutal West VII group of survivors. For the Vision series, Stashwick is playing the first new character to be announced, an assassin who is on Vision’s trail to retrieve the technology he possesses in his composition.
Expect his character to be in the employ of S.W.O.R.D., who even following Tyler Hayward’s line-crossing actions in WandaVision still likely consider Vision their property. Escaped property at that. It was they who reassembled and reactivated Vision through Project Cataract after the synthezoid was killed when Thanos claimed the Mind Stone in Avengers: Infinity War. Initially without memories, it’s the construct of Vision his love Wanda Maximoff created in her grief and considered her husband that restored them. The Hex Vision disappeared with the rest of the Hex significantly after the real revived Vision flew off in search of a new purpose, which this new series, set to shoot in England next year for a 2026 premiere, will follow up on.
The only other actor currently confirmed for the series is James Spader reprising his role as the rogue AI Ultron who created Vision and in most universes is foiled in transferring himself into the Vision body. Stashwick might otherwise most be recognized for his roles in The Originals, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and S.W.A.T., and playing Dr. Drakken in Disney Channel’s live action Kim Possible movie. He is also apparently the voice of Jeremy Johnson’s father on Phineas and Ferb and voiced the Cowardly Lion for Tom and Jerry’s Oz movies.
