Adult Swim Releases First Footage Of 'My Adventures With Superman' With New Teaser
It's a bird, it's a plane! It's coming this summer!
After nearly two years of just having the one photo and the concept art to go off of, we finally have more material for My Adventures with Superman. Adult Swim released a 15 second teaser for the series on Thursday.
It features Superman responding to trouble at a bank and handling it before checking in on Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. Then we get Clark charging and readying to change out of his work suit into his super suit. The logo’s pretty cool, and while the trailer only states the series is coming soon, it was released to the trades that “soon” is rather honest, as it will be premiering this summer on the network.
Of course, it’s become quite a ride for the series. Announced in May 2021 alongside Batman: Caped Crusader for Cartoon Network and HBO Max. As the next solo cartoons at Warner Bros. Animation for DC Comics’s most iconicheroes, they were seemingly destined to be partnered for Cartoon Network’s Sunday night ACME Night block. However, in August, Caped Crusader was one of several projects orphaned by HBO Max, and only just got picked up by Prime Video for two seasons just last month.
Now, it seems it’s been paired with Genndy Tartakovsky’s Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, a miniseries with a similar release plan (and place on ACME Night) that’s now shifted from Cartoon Network to Adult Swim. It’s premiering May 4 at midnight with next day arrivals to HBO Max. Of course, without a date, one can’t quite tell if My Adventures with Superman will air as late, after all, Adult Swim is gaining the 7 PM hour so there’s plenty of real estate to work with. Reports also do not indicate whether the series will receive the same “next day on HBO Max” treatment Unicorn is getting.
In Superman’s first solo animated series since the DCAU’s ended in 2000, a twentysomething Clark Kent voiced by Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Jack Quaid builds his secret identity as Superman and explores his origins while the “bright and driven” Lois Lane, voiced by Alice Lee, works toward becoming a star reporter. She teams up with best friend Jimmy Olsen voiced by Ishmel Sahid. The trio begins to discover themselves and all they’ll achieve together in their investigative work at the Daily Planet, while Clark and Lois grow closer romantically and begin to fall in love, even as she nears learning who he truly is. The synopsis states they “share adventures, take down bad guys, stumble over secrets, and discover what it means to be heroes in their own right.”
My Adventures with Superman, described as a a serialized coming-of-age story, will also get a rerun slot on Toonami on Saturday evenings. The teaser can be watched below.
