'Phineas And Ferb' Co-Creator Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh Has Been Confirmed To Return For The Revival
Well, pictures really are worth a thousand words, especially a month earlier than everyone else. Series co-creator and executive producer Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh is officially returning for the Phineas and Ferb revival Disney Branded Television is cooking.
When the revival was announced in January, only Dan Povenmire, the adored animated series’s other co-creator was announced attached. There wasn’t much to worry about, after all even without a project to work on together they were still very much a unit, even performing a number together at D23 about Disney Channel programming. However, at the same time, his absence would be felt, as Marsh also voices OWCA boss Major Monogram, among other characters. And yet, it still would’ve been somewhat understood, with his duties at his Disney Junior series Hey AJ, the preschool animated series based on the book series of the same name by former NFL tight end Martellus Bennett. Marsh is executive producing via Surfing Giant Studios while Bennett and Michael Hodges also executive produce. Then again, Phineas and Ferb’s revival was announced with a second season of Povenmire’s other current show Hamster & Gretel, so clearly they’ll both be able to juggle each of their both shows.
While it’s just being confirmed in the press, fans have known for a bit longer. In February, Povenmire tweeted “Dude, we’re getting the band back together!” with a picture of him and Marsh working on music. While the photo itself had no date attached, it was the confirmation needed to say that the two were reunited and working on the 40 ordered episodes that do not have a confirmed primary landing spot just yet, whether it’ll be back on Disney Channel or go straight to Disney+. Marsh resumes all of his duties on this revival, including as executive producer and voice director.
Marsh and Povenmire met while working on Rocko’s Modern Life, and in the decade+ of trying to get Phineas and Ferb picked up, Marsh spent some time in England working on shows such as Postman Pat and Bounty Hamster. When they did get picked up, it ran from 2007-2015 on Disney Channel and Disney XD, for 129 episodes made of 222 stories and a TV movie in 2011. They then moved onto Milo Murphy’s Law, which ran from 2016-2019 for two seasons, and made Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe, released on Disney+ in 2020.
