What Was Revealed About 'Andor' And 'The Acolyte' At Star Wars Celebration
No Ifs. Andor Buts Only
It’s about to be a big weekend for Star Wars fans. It’s Star Wars Celebration weekend, this year in London in the United Kingdom, and it kicked off with the Studio Showcase panel, an hour and a half of big news and updates regarding the studio’s film and television projects. Andor was up first, followed by The Acolyte and while I’m not there, this is what I could glean. The majorities of each cast were there. And yes teasers for both series was shown, but details for what each teaser had are scarce. Andy Serkis capped the Andor presentation off leading a chant of “ONE WAY OUT!” because of course.
First, it was stated that the ending of the Narkina-5 arc was the final moment shot in season 1. As for season 2, shooting began in November and they declared themselves about halfway done, with completion targeted for August, to give a year of post-production. Gilroy believes season 2 will premiere in August of 2024.
The Acolyte, starring Amandla Stenberg debuted a brand new logo, which you can see below. Joonas Suotamo, who succeeded Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca in the sequel film trilogy and other post-Disney acquisition productions, will star as a Wookie Jedi, while Lee Jung-jae will be a Jedi master. The series is also set for a 2024 release.
While The Mandalorian didn’t have much in the way of news, it did indulge in the appreciation of Ahmed Best, so that was pretty cool.
