'Star Wars' Series In Development From Carlton Cuse And Son
Read the note about the repost. 'Star Wars' television has lost a lot of its bulk. Can yet another 'Lost' creative build that muscle back up?
NOTE: This was previously published, but Substack went down soon after. Statistics have not returned for it after 10 hours. Statistics for subsequently published articles have come as normal. So with its statistics possibly permanently broken, I’m reprinting the article. If after three days the statistics do not appear on the original, I’m unpublishing it and this note will disappear.
It has been a while since we’ve had new Star Wars live action series announced, seemingly since Skeleton Crew, which premiered this past December and January, at Celebration 2022. This year’s Celebration in Japan only had the imminent, now-playing second season of Andor, and the now-filming second season of Ahsoka to really support as far as active series. The pullback on development was intentional as the streaming bubble started bursting, but the supply will likely never deplete completely, especially so quickly. Thus, it’s being reported that Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son Nick are in early development on a new series for the franchise at Lucasfilm.
This was news that came just after Celebration, so it must be in such an early stage that they weren’t ready to announce it, especially with an alarming amount of announced Star Wars projects that either haven’t surfaced or are stuck in early stages. Carlton Cuse’s credits include creating The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Nash Bridges, Colony and Jack Ryan, developing Bates Motel, and The Strain, and most recently showrunning Netflix’s medical drama Pulse. Nick worked with Lost’s other co-showrunner, co-creator Damon Lindelof on Watchmen and The Leftovers, going on to Station Eleven and Masters of the Air.

Here is the original. This will be replaced in the event its statistics don’t show up and becomes unpublished.
The Star Wars franchise’s history with Lost creatives is pretty thorough already. Lindelof was an original co-writer of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey Skywalker movie, though that’s two teams ago now. George Nolfi has taken over after Steven Knight’s own departure. And of course there’s Lost co-creator J. J. Abrams, who directed, wrote and produced the sequel trilogy kickoff The Force Awakens, was an executive producer for The Last Jedi, as the reigns were handed to Rian Johnson before they were given back to him to direct, and co-write from his story contributions for The Rise of Skywalker. And we all know how that went.
'Percy Jackson' Showrunners In Talks To Take On 'Power Rangers' Reboot Series For Disney+
Hasbro’s attempt to reboot Power Rangers after sunsetting its original 30-year television series a year and a half ago five years into their ownership has gained traction again, and it’s landed in a place that’s hilarious. It would also be considered unbelievable if it weren’t for the rampant media consolidation and changing media landscape. Jonathan E.…
