'Stranger Things' Day Confirms Final Season Episode Titles, 2025 Release
On November 6, 1983, Will Byers vanished. Now he's nearly saying goodbye
Just in time for America to turn itself upside down, Stranger Things Day reminds everyone that the long-awaited fifth and final season is still on its way, confirmed to be coming in 2025. It will finally complete what will be a three year journey from the Netflix series’s renewal announcement in February 2022. November 6, 1983 was the day the events of the series kick off when Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp) was abducted into the Upside Down. The streamer, on the show’s own YouTube channel, released a reveal video for the show’s Stranger Things 5 title and its eight episodes.
The episode titles are “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of…,” with the name of who obscured “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.”These titles certainly give some idea of what will happen in the season, with that final season flair of full circles, mirrors, and callbacks, especially with a “The Vanishing of…” title invoking the series premiere “The Vanishing of Will Byers.” The Turnbow Trap” promises action involving Turnbow Land Development & Realty; with series co-creator Ross Duffer posting an Upside Down-ified billboard for the company to his Instagram in March. “Shock Jock” similarly promises action at WSQK, the local radio station. And of course “The Rightside Up” implies a complete transformation of The Upside Down, the series’s core phantasmagoric alternate dimension mirroring Hawkins.
The show’s fifth season reasonably takes place in the fall of 1987, four years after the events of the first. In relation to season 4, which took place over the early spring of 1986, that makes about a year and a half jump. Season four ended with Vecna opening a gate to the Upside Down, leading to mass fissures and destruction in Hawkins. Stranger Things will continue to star Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown as Jane “Eleven” Hopper, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler and Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers. New castmembers include Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Terminator legend Linda Hamilton, continuing the tradition of bringing ‘80s film icons to this ‘80s-set series.
When Stranger Things 5 comes out, well obviously they weren’t going to let go of this franchise after just under a decade, that’s not how things are done, especially in these risk-averse times. The Duffers announced a Stranger Things animated series developed with Fanboy & Chum Chum creator and Glitch Techs co-creator Eric Robles for the streamer back in April 2023, saying “We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.” They are executive producing through their Upside Down Pictures production banner, along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen through 21 Laps and Robles through Flying Bark Productions. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with –– the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
