'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' First Trailer Released As Marvel Studios Holds Space Launch
Welcome to the family, and get your flame on
Well, they did say launch coverage starts at 7. Marvel Studios released the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps shortly after 8 AM Eastern Tuesday morning, following an hour of exploring the Saturn 5 rocket and the stock NASA facilities. It did give the Future Foundation logo and the type of rock Ben Grimm’s transformation into The Thing will make him out of. The trailer was launched with a 4:3 broadcast from the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Alabama with the entire team, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in attendance, almost a year after their casting was officially announced.
The action-packed trailer opens with Reed and Sue seemingly hosting dinner pre-launch. Before revealing much it cuts to the robot HERBIE working with an already-transformed Ben as The Thing, pronounced eyebrow and all, who fittingly enough for someone played by The Bear star Moss-Bachrach is the chef of the group, suggesting more garlic to give it “zip”. We see the team go up in their rocket, suited, while Reed laments what ensued, though he doesn’t bring up his own. Sue reminds him that she’s still visible, Ben’s the grounding force, and Johnny’s a nut. The Thing’s got speed, the kids have plenty of merch, and something’s going on with the sky. There’s even a look at Galactus’s towering, menacing presence, but only in shadow or from behind, so no face look yet. But the Fantastic 4? They’re a family. And they have the Fantasticar.
The official synopsis reads: “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.” In addition to them, the film also stars John Malkovich, who was seen briefly in the trailer, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Despite Malkovich being seen, no character details were given for him or the rest of the set.

After the release of the trailer, Marvel Studios released a series of posters that show just how much public support they have. There are posters in the posters expressing how much Earth believes in them. The kids have even built themselves Fantastic 4 boxcars to ride in. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman, written by five, produced by studio head Kevin Feige and executive-produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis and Tim Lewis. It is set to release in theaters on July 25, 2025. The trailer launch stream is still available on Marvel’s YouTube channel as well.
