'The Penguin' Ices Out A New Teaser For Max’s 'The Batman' Spinoff Series
The eight episode series premieres in September and sees the return of Colin Farrell in the title role
The power vacuum always sucks. Brawl for one but none for brawl. The wait for more from the world of Matt Reeves’s The Batman will end after two and a half years as Max’s The Penguin series’s fall release has been clarified for a September premiere (if not entire release), thanks to a newly-released second teaser. The series stars Colin Farrell as famed Batman villain Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, reprising his role from the film.
In the wake of Carmine Falcone’s death, Oz is eager to jump on the opportunity to seize power in Gotham’s criminal underground. However, there’s still the Falcone kids, daughter Sofia, played by How I Met Your Mother and Hit-Monkey’s Cristin Milioti and son Alberto, played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Michael Zegen, among several others, in his way from achieving it. Sofia, the only other listed series regular role, especially takes charge, explaining “I’m the daughter of the Falcone don, but he’s dead…I refuse to let these old men push me aside again. So, I’m gonna take from them now. And I’m gonna force them to their knees.”
From Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, The Penguin “continues the epic crime saga” and also stars DC veteran Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, Michael Kelly as Johnny Vitti, Rhenzy Feliz as an undisclosed main character, and The Expanse’s Shohreh Aghdashloo, Daredevil’s Deirdre O’Connell, as well as James Madio, Theo Rossi, Scott Cohen, and Carmen Ejogo all in still-undisclosed roles. The series is executive-produced by Reeves, Farrell, writer and showrunner Lauren LeFranc, Dylan Clark, Bill Carraro, and Craig Zobel, who directs the first three episodes.
The next visit to this world won’t be for over two years until the film’s sequel, The Batman Part II which doubled its gap from The Penguin when it was delayed a year from October 3, 2025 to October 2, 2026.
