'Venom: The Last Dance' Trailer Released As Eddie’s Pride Piece
Their love is a space oddity, til death do they part
They are Venom, we are ready. It’s truly Pride Month as Sony has released the official trailer for Venom: The Last Dance starring Tom Hardy. It’s the third installment of one of superhero/comic book movies’ best queer romances, as few as they may be.
Til death do they part, even if Eddie’s still getting used to things. After they emerge together to truly thrash some thugs, they’re Venom! They’re Venom! And it’s delicious! Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor play government agents looking to hunt the symbiote down and eliminate the threat while keeping it all a secret. And somehow, they’ve even got ahold of the sample left in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Eddie’s Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo. Or maybe it’s just their home universe’s identical tiki bar and they’re prone to leaving samples everywhere in a Bruce Wayne-esque way. Anyway, it makes Eddie Brock and Venom fugitives. They even get apprehended underwater. There’s a Vegas reunion with Mrs. Chen at least. On top of all that, Venom’s people have found him, including the film’s symbiote enemy, Toxin. Venom also merges with a horse. Venom horse let’s go! The trailer is set to David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”.
Described as some of “Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters”, the official synopsis reads “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”
Set for release on October 25, Venom: The Last Dance also stars Clark Backo, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu returning as Mrs. Chen, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham, the latter four castings previously unrevealed. This means that the Marvel multiverse has separate character doppelgängers for both Curt Connors on Peter-Three’s world and Baron Mordo (Ejiofor) from the MCU’s Earth. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel from a screenplay she wrote, based on a story she and Hardy concocted. The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Marcel, Hardy and Hutch Parker. Sony’s trio of Spider-Man villain movies this year concludes with Kraven the Hunter on December 13.
