'A Quiet Place: Day One' Gets Paramount+ Shush
It’s at least on brand how quiet they were about when it would get there
This is your sign to run, but don’t tell anyone. Be quiet. A Quiet Place: Day One is coming to Paramount+ tomorrow, August 27 in the United States and Canada. It will arrive internationally later.
The Michael Sarnoski-directed prequel to John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place films was released on June 28 and made $261.1 million worldwide, exceeding expectations. That’s a $138.9 million domestic/$122.2 million international split, and exactly 60 days from theatrical release to Paramount+ arrival. That’s a hold of about a week longer than both Mean Girls and IF, which took about 53 days and isn’t too significant in the long run but definitely hits a more standard window better. One might recall that the arrival of IF had equal day-before notice.
In A Quiet Place: Day One, Samira, played by Lupita Nyong’o, is a young woman with a terminal disease who returns home to Manhattan during the early stages of the alien invasion. Accompanied by her cat, Frodo, and an unexpected ally, Eric, a law student who has nothing to lose played by Joseph Quinn, Samira must embark on a perilous journey through the city that has suddenly gone silent, where the only rule is to stay quiet to stay alive, as the aliens hunt by sound, and make their escape. The film also stars Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou, and Eliane Umuhire, and features Takunda Khumalo, Alfie Todd, and Ronnie Le Drew.
The Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night production was also written by Sarnoski, built from his and John Krasinski’s story, which was based on characters created by Bryan Woods & Scott Beck. Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Krasinski produced, with Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock as executive producers.
