'Agatha' Comes Fourth With Another Title Wave
Something went wrong yesterday on the Marvel Studios Twitter account
Sir, another title change has hit Marvel Studios’s WandaVision spinoff. That’s right, the Agatha Disney+ series starring Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as Agatha Harkness has had its title changed for the third (or maybe fourth) time. The series is now seemingly titled Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe.
The Narnia reference is obvious but it's still quite a wordy one. The reveal was made on Marvel Studios’s official Twitter account at noon Eastern, just the image of the title, no accompanying tweet text. By 12:12 PM, it was gone. It would not be replaced, indicating that it as a whole was the mistake and not just the whole posting without text part. The series was originally known as Agatha: House of Harkness in November 2021, and given a winter 2023/early 2024 release window by its first rename, to Agatha: Coven of Chaos at SDCC 2022. That name lasted until September 2023, a reveal that came alongside a shift in series releases that landed what has been Agatha: Darkhold Diaries in this upcoming Halloween season that there's no current reason to lose.
'Agatha' Is Retitled Again In Massive Marvel Studios Disney+ Series Release Shift
It’s September 1, and nothing has been seen from X-Men ‘97, the sequel to the ‘90s Fox Kids X-Men animated series and originally set for a fall 2023 release, since July 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con. In fact, it’s been confirmed Friday that a good handful of Marvel Studios
"I can't say anything, but I'm so excited!" Hahn has previously about the series. "You know, it's interesting you say that because my whole experience with Marvel, starting with WandaVision and then Agatha – everyone talks about the machine of Marvel, but I've really felt like I've been in this amazing splinter circus that has felt so trusted and so off to the side."
"These two projects could not have been more different from each other and could not have asked more different things of me, but a part always takes a little something from you and also gives a little something to you," she added. "So yes, of course, there was a call and response between the two of them because it's me, it's my life, it's my humanhood stepping from one to the other. I don't know if I could exactly say what it was, but she, of course, prepared me for the witch."
The series also stars Joe Locke as the Familiar (reportedly Billy Kaplan), Patti LuPone as Lilia Calderu, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer Kale, the returning Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon Davis aka Mrs. Hart under the hex, and Ali Ahn and Maria Dizzia. Other Westview residents including Emma Caulfield Ford as Sarah Proctor, aka "Dottie Jones" within the sitcom, David Lengel as her husband Harold Proctor / "Phil Jones", David Payton as John Collins / "Herb", Asif Ali as Abilash Tandon / "Norm", Amos Glick as the pizza delivery man who was "Dennis" under the Hex, and Kate Forbes as Agatha's mother, Evanora Harkness are all set to make return appearances. Wild speculation that all these different titles are actually episode titles for a series simply titled Agatha, but I don't subscribe to it. Disney’s Upfront presentation is supposed to be this afternoon so we might find out then.
