'Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League' Teaser Trailer Released At Anime Expo
Things are falling somewhere between bush league and Bushido league
There is no justice, but Batman Ninja has returned. American Independence Day did nothing to stand in the way of Anime Expo, nor the release of the fourth episode of Suicide Squad Isekai on Hulu and Max. At the end of May it was announced to be sharing a panel hosted by Warner Bros. Japan at the convention with the newly-announced Batman Ninja sequel film Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League. Thursday, the panel happened in front of 2,000 enthusiastic fans, and the latter had its teaser trailer released.
A 30-second spot reads “The ninja who battled feudal Japan has returned once again to a world unlike any other.” flashing back to that initial battle before time spheres start appearing. The Batwing flies with Robin (Damian again, as Dick, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake are all in their evolved identities already in the previous film) aboard. The escalation that this film brings is that the Justice League is here, though they’ve turned themselves into the “Yakuza League” Batman will face as the title describes. There’s no Superman here, but there is Wonder Woman with an eagle tattoo and a Japanese sword, The Flash in a traditional Japanese straw hat and a long stick in his mouth akin to the toothpick that signifies “coolness”, though whether it’s Barry or a white Wally or whoever else it could be is unknown, while fisherman-like tendencies for Aquaman are pronounced here as he dons a twisted headband, and the featured Green Lantern is Jessica Cruz, wearing a kimono and donning a Japanese lantern.
More information, presumably including a reveal of the fuller cast for both Japanese and English casts and a release date is coming soon. Currently only Koichi Yamadera is confirmed to return in the role of Batman. Animation is being done at Kamikaze Douga with its CEO and founder Junpei Misuzaki returning to direct alongside Shinji Takagi. Returning staff includes screenwriter Kazuki Nakashima, character designer Takashi Okazaki, and composer Yūgo Kanno.

They do know that the Yakuza are gangsters and not superheroes, right?
