BOOM! Studios Announces A Prelude Story To Amy Jo Johnson's 'Power Rangers' Comic Series
The story will be included in the Upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Special comic
As the final hours wound down for their Direct Reserve campaign Power Rangers: A 30th Anniversary Comic Book Celebration, BOOM! Studios has announced that Amy Jo Johnson’s upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic series will be preceded by an 8-page prelude story included in the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Special.
Plot details are still unknown, being kept secret, however, she has described it as an anthology special which will introduce a re-imagined world. The prelude was unlocked as the $625,000 stretch goal. The information will be made known as the year goes on. With two hours to go as of writing, the campaign sits at $661,020 raised. It isn’t mentioned whether this prelude is also, as the series it leads into is, co-written by her boyfriend, director Matt Hotson. Johnson is of course best known as Kimberly Hart, the original Pink Ranger for all but eight episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, to which she last returned to the role in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. She made a cameo in the reboot film Power Rangers as a civilian onlooker, her most recent appearance in the franchise. She would go on to be a series regular in Felicity and Flashpoint while starring in Susie Q and Perfect Body. She turned to directing about a decade ago when she also started making convention appearances. She’s also started directing television, with an episode of Superman & Lois.
Johnson is incredibly excited to reflect back on her time as a Ranger, calling this comic book series a love letter to her fans and the franchise that gave her her start.
