Dave Mallow, Prominent 'Digimon', 'Power Rangers' Voice, Dead At 76
Mallow narrated 'Digimon Adventure’, voicing Angemon and higher Digivolutions, as well as Baboo and many monsters on 'Power Rangers'
The adventure of life has now gone on to the actual angels, as the hand of fate allows. Voice actor Dave Mallow, whose work with Saban Entertainment led to major roles on both Digimon and Power Rangers, has died at the age of 76.
Born October 19, 1948, Mallow had been a voice actor since the 1980s, with work also in commercials, film dubbing, looping, narration, audiobooks, and radio plays. His work on Digimon began as narrator of the first season, Adventure, but quickly found himself as the voice of T.K’s partner Digimon Angemon starting with the thirteenth episode. In fact, he would voice all of Patamon’s Digivolutions from Angemon and stronger, namely MagnaAngemon, Pegasusmon, Shakkoumon, and Seraphimon, all the way through Adventure 02, Hurricane Touchdown, and Adventure tri., some point after which he retired due to health reasons. Jamieson Price also voiced Angemon in tri., taking on MagnaAngemon and Seraphimon starting here. In the The Movies redub of the Our War Game and Hurricane Touchdown! segments, Bradley Gareth took on these roles. On Power Rangers, he was the one who did the “Today on Power Rangers” and “Next Time on Power Rangers” in the Mighty Morphin era, as well as the voice of Baboo, a minion of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, and Pudgy Pig, one of the show’s most memorable monsters of the week, along with Lizzinator, Terror Blossom and more. He would continue to voice monsters of the week in every season that remained in the franchise’s California production era, from Zeo to Wild Force, as well as on VR Troopers.

Dorothy Fahn, who was the dub voice of Mrs. Kamiya and Lilymon, first shared the news of his passing on Instagram, which she brought over to Twitter. Joshua Seth, the voice of Tai Kamiya, recalled that “He was one of the first voice actors who befriended me in LA… I used to watch old movies in his metal house in the hills and talk about voice acting.” All three of them had initially met through Honeybee Hutch. Sometime last summer, Tom Wyner, who voiced Adventure’s first Big Bad, Devimon, succeeded Mallow as narrator for Digimon Adventure 02 and had his own array of Power Rangers monsters including Mr. Ticklesneezer, Knasty Knight, the Frankenstein Monster, Samurai Fan Man, Commander Crayfish, and Goldgoyle, died at 77. Devimon was finally defeated by Angemon in “The Legend of the Digi-destined” after the latter had reached Angemon stage for the first time, sacrificing himself in the process. Both actors are dearly missed.
