'Good Burger 2' Has An Arby’s Meal And Its Stars Will Be Parading In The Burgermobile
It’s been quite the promotional campaign for the long-awaited sequel, premiering November 22
Good Burger 2, the sequel to Nickelodeon Movies’s second film, premieres on Paramount+ this Wednesday, November 22, and it only felt right to cover some of the ways the marketing has picked up. And it starts with fast food.
While McDonald’s is celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary with their Happy Meals, they haven’t done any celebrity or full tie-in meals since Cardi B and Offset in February. So anyone else would feel out of left field. And yeah, it’s Arby’s that has introduced a Good Burger 2 Meal. With the starting last Monday, November 13, it brings back the Deluxe Wagyu Burger for a third round, with French fries and a strawberry shake. The official description tells it as a wagyu blend burger (51% American Wagyu and 49% Ground Beef) topped with American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and burger sauce on a toasted buttery brioche bun, served with the shake and fries. It does make sense, as the Good Burger never seemed to be anything more than the restaurant’s basic hamburger offering, even with all the basic fixings. However, all indications point to pricing that matches the separate items combined and not something more reasonable. It’s a $15.09 medium and a $17.79 large. That barely seems worth it frankly.
"Many of our guests have such fond memories of watching Good Burger when they were younger, and in many ways, Arby's evokes a similar sense of nostalgia as a place they grew up going to with family and friends," Arby's chief marketer Ellen Rose said in a statement. "Partnering with Paramount+ to offer the Good Burger 2 Meal lets us connect with our audience in a relevant yet unexpected way – and also showcase our Deluxe Wagyu Steakhouse Burger, which is a really good burger, to new fans." Michelle Zoni, SVP of Activation at Paramount Brand Studio added they are "thrilled to collaborate with Arby's to bring "Home of the Good Burger" to life through a multifaceted campaign that will immerse fans in the iconic world of Good Burger 2. Through co-branded creative, in-store activations, consumer products and more, we are creating shared experiences for fans that will not only build excitement for the movie's release on Paramount+, but also for the Good Burger 2 meal which is the perfect kickoff to this partnership." Arby's and Paramount+ are also releasing '90s-inspired merchandise on ArbysShop.com.
Of course, a Thanksgiving release can’t go without a major plug in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and that’s where the film’s Burgermobile will be riding, weighing over 5,000 pounds with a burger hood, French fry bumper, and stars Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson in the seats, joining Chase from Paw Patrol, and Baby Shark’s balloons and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem float. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring the nostalgia of Good Burger and the exciting return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade," said Jordan Dabby, producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “I know our live spectators in New York City and viewers nationwide will be delighted and dazzled by Nickelodeon’s iconic characters joining our Parade line-up this November.”
“With the addition of the 'Burgermobile' from Good Burger 2 to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade lineup, we are offering the best of the Nickelodeon brand for every member of the family and giving fans a taste of the nostalgia and big laughs in this November’s highly anticipated sequel,” said Veronica Hart, the Executive Vice President of Global Franchise Planning and Consumer Products Marketing at Paramount Global.
The classic combo is back. Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed helps him by bringing him back to Good Burger, where Ed now has a long-changed group of co-workers. While there, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet that puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again. The cast also features Jillian Bell as Megacorp CEO Katt Boswell, Lil Rel Howery as MegaCorp's lawyer Cecil McNevin, Alex R. Hibbert as Ed2, Ed's mini-me son and the restaurant's newest trainee, as well as co-workers played by Kamaia Fairburn, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth and Emily Hinkler and Anabel Graetz. The cast is rounded out by the returns of Josh Server as Fizz, Lori Beth Denberg and Connie Muldoon, and Carmen Electra as Roxanne, with appearances by (as characters or as themselves) Marsai Martin, Yung Gravy, Liza Koshy, Nicole Byer, Kai Cenat, former Crashletes host and NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski, Ron Funches, Flula Borg, Matt Friend, Mark Cuban and Molly Kearney and Ego Nwodim. The streamer also made this nice, cheeky and amusing Employee Training video which couldn’t be resisted to share
