'Gremlins: The Wild Batch' Gets Ten Rings Of Mayhem In Official Trailer
The second season of the animated series premieres on Max on October 3
It wouldn’t be Halloween without Warner Bros.’s more modern monsters, and so a Sepgrember moment has come with the official trailer and key art for the second season of the Gremlins animated series, subtitled The Wild Batch. It’s set to be released on Max in two parts, starting with the front half on Thursday, October 3. The streamer has released a new trailer and key art to get the hype going.
The Wild Batch takes place a year after Secrets of the Mogwai, and follows Gizmo, Sam and Elle as they leave their Shanghai home for San Francisco, bringing even more magic, mystery and Mogwai mayhem. In pursuit of a new breed of the mischievous creature, they traverse deep into the American West, coming up against new supernatural creatures and meeting some new mysterious characters. Among them is Chang, a handsome, very charming bootlegger and son to one of San Francisco Chinatown’s most powerful and influential families. Voiced by Shang-Chi and Barbie star Simu Liu, his rapscallionry has resulted in Alcatraz imprisonment long enough that said family believes he’s dead. After a chance encounter with the main trio, Chang will attempt to get back to Chinatown while guiding the trio in their American journey.
The returning cast from the first season includes Izaac Wang as Sam Wing, AJ LoCascio as Gizmo, Gabrielle Nevaeh Green as Elle, Ming-Na Wen as Fong Wing, James Hong as Grandpa Wing, BD Wong as Hon Wing, and George Takei as Noggin. This season sees the return of Gremlins 2: The New Batch star John Glover, who played eccentric billionaire Daniel Clamp, Michael Paul Chan, Ronny Chieng, Keith David, Will Forte, Kelly Hu and Jimmy O. Yang, among others. At the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel in July, executive producers Tze Chun and Brendan Hay hinted at a peek into the Clamp family ancestry this season, so it may very well be an identical ancestor-type casting situation instead of the alum being brought in for a more random one-off character played just for the Easter egg.
Gremlins: The Wild Batch is produced by Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Animation. From the former, Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer, along with Presidents of Amblin Television Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, and Sam Register, who is President of Warner Bros. Animation (and Cartoon Network Studios). Chun serves as showrunner, with Michael Chang and Dan Krall serving as supervising producers. Joe Dante, who directed the original films serves as consulting producer.
