'Harley Quinn' Renewed For Season 5 By Max
The last vestige of the DC Universe…app streaming originals has been identified
Harlivy and Kite Man are officially going to be active together. Max has renewed animated series Harley Quinn for a fifth season. Season four had run from July to September.
“The talented Harley Quinn team has once again succeeded in delivering a season that builds on everything that has come before while still feeling fresh and inventive,” said Suzanna Makkos, executive vice president of original comedy and adult animation at Max. “They continue to provide hilarious, heartwarming and deranged stories with our lovable group of DC misfits, and we couldn’t be more excited for the fans to see what they’ve accomplished in Season 5.”
Executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey added their own statement, saying “We’re thrilled that the news of Harley and Ivy’s continuing misadventures is finally out and we can stop telling people in secret. We must have handed out at least 3,000 NDAs by now. It was a big waste of paper.”
Season 4 saw Harley, voiced by Kaley Cuoco begin working with the Bat-Family, including Robin, voiced by Jacob Tremblay, Nightwing, voiced by Harvey Guillén, and Batgirl, voiced by sister Briana Cuoco. Ivy, voiced by Lake Bell, has assumed her new role as the CEO of the Legion of Doom. As Harley started to welcome her more heroic pursuits, she and Ivy hit some bumps but still made it through. In the finale she teamed up with Batgirl and Catwoman to form the Gotham City Sirens.
“Harley Quinn has raised the comedic crowbar with every new season. We’re excited to continue this partnership with Max and take our biggest swing yet for Season 5,” said Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation, in a statement. The series also stars Alan Tudyk as its Joker, with other characters including Clayface, Calendar Man and Condiment King, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Ron Funches as King Shark, J.B. Smoove as Frank the Plant and Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho and Felix Faust. Diedrich Bader is this show’s Batman.
Season 5 is Harley Quinn’s third on Max systems, having premiered in 2019 on DC Universe before it shed its streaming capabilities and the show. It didn’t make many original series, but with Thursday marking the conclusion of Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn became the last one standing. Season 3 premiered on HBO Max in 2022 (COVID issues), running the exact timeframe season 4 did this year, with a timely Valentine's Day special inbetween. The show has also spawned a spin-off Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, the teaser for which was ready when season 4 ended. In the series, a Kite Man and his girlfriend Golden Glider take their relationship to the next level by opening Noonan’s, a bar in the shadow of the Legion. The teaser at least implies Harley will be making appearances when it premieres next year.
