Harrison Ford Confirms 'Dial Of Destiny' Will Be His Final Time Playing Indiana Jones
The 80-year-old actor was asked in regards to the in-development Disney+ series. Plus, get an overdue analysis of the trailer released at Star Wars Celebration
Harrison Ford is done with Indiana Jones once Dial of Destiny is released. Ford confirmed so to Total Film as their cover star for their April 27 issue.
The 80-year-old actor, who currently stars in Apple TV+’s Shrinking, stated firmly “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film." This definitely makes vague reference to the Indiana Jones streaming television series announced to be in development at Disney+ in November. Should it progress to actually being made, Ford remarked that he will not be involved regardless.
Even still, he’s excited about the movie, which has Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen starring with him. "I had been ambitious to do this film for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to that." Ford said, truly overjoyed for what James Mangold has directed, and being able to star in Spielberg and Lucas-involved films for over 40 years. He recognizes how unique a situation he’s in.
The latest trailer was released during the film’s segment of the Star Wars Celebration Europe’s Studio Showcase panel, a segment that therefore made it so it couldn’t just be titled specifically about Star Wars films. In it, it’s time for Professor Indy’s retirement and he’s commended by his colleagues. His goddaughter, played by Waller-Bridge comes in during it, as they meet up for drinks after. She asks about the item he found during the war. She makes an actiony escape, and Mikkelsen’s men are after him. There’s a horseback chase through a parade and the subway system. As for the titular dial, it turns out everyone stole it, but the goddaughter did so through capitalism. Whips, punches, and vehicle chases ensue, an airplane confrontation too. Even dear old dad (John Rhys-Davies) encourages Indy to give em hell. All that and more when Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny releases in theaters on June 30.
