More 'Power Rangers' Seasons Are Set To Leave Netflix
Meanwhile Tubi’s gotten more of the franchise quicker than expected. It’s streaming time!
A funny thing happened on the way to December. The reported arrivals of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Turbo to Tubi never happened. Instead, those anticipating found Power Rangers in Space instead. And then more happened, but I’ll detail that in a bit. Still, being in December, more deals are likely to expire on December 31 as a round place for multi-year agreements, and at the same time with so many renegotiations going on, renewals, if they do happen, can seemingly take longer. People are already up in arms that Max has The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Teen Titans, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Static Shock, Aquaman, The Looney Tunes Show, and Beware the Batman set to expire. That’s a lot, but I wouldn’t freak until it happens. There are departures on Netflix however I’d be even more at peace with even in personal opinion with a higher chance to go through: Power Rangers.
Both seasons of Ninja Steel and the still-present season of Beast Morphers are currently set to leave Netflix on January 1, 2025. That’s 66 episodes, 44 and 22 between them, that would be leaving, while 145 episodes of Mighty Morphin, the 32 of the reversioning, the 54 of Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury, and the Once and Always special remain. That means there would be exactly 200 episodes of unique stories remaining. Internationally however, they’re losing Dino Fury (44 alone) as well. It isn’t great, but it could lead to something better: the migration to YouTube can restart. When the bulk of Power Rangers left Netflix in February 2021, Hasbro quickly announced that episodes would be uploaded to YouTube, and it started with Dino Thunder (season 12), Dino Charge and the Mighty Morphin reversion. The posting was completed in August 2023 with the end of Super Megaforce, the last season to go up because Dino Charge and Dino Supercharge, the team after, were among the first. With the next two teams across three seasons each poised to leave Netflix, that should free them up to be posted to YouTube.
This is especially important as the first season of Beast Morphers will as of next month been absent from Netflix for a year. It seems pretty clear that Hasbro is waiting for season 2 to be freed before posting them together. This seems like the ideal situation and makes departure from Netflix easier to bear. As for what remains, Mighty Morphin still has five years on the clock, Dino Fury domestically has until October 2032, and Once and Always and Cosmic Fury are under 10-year agreements, not leaving until their premiere dates in 2033.
In other Power Rangers streaming news, the previously-reported arrivals of Mighty Morphin and Turbo did not happen on December 1. Power Rangers in Space did. But then there was more. I believe Lost Galaxy arrived next. By a few days ago as of reporting (I did not daily check so I don’t have an exact timeline) Mighty Morphin and Turbo did arrive, along with Zeo, Wild Force, SPD, and RPM. Very surprising turn of events. That means the first seven seasons can be watched straight through on the platform, with several more after.
