Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes Celebrate 'Masters Of The Universe' Wrap
By the power of hair and makeup, they have completed!
There’s an exodus from Eternia, yet it is steeped in victory. Masters of the Universe, the second film adaptation of the ‘80s franchise that has seen six animated series including spinoffs (seven counting that spinoff’s reboot detached from its original franchise due to rights issues), has wrapped production. The stars of the film, namely Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes marked the occasion with celebratory posts on Instagram, giving the first official looks at their characters.
“Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe,” Galitzine wrote of the film from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films. “It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.” Granted we’re seeing only He-Man from the back and in shadow but still. Unfortunately these reveals do not bring any updates on how much the plot has changed since the original synopsis was given. Could be slight, could be massive. We’re still going to have to wait.
Nicholas Galitzine Granted The Power Of Grayskull To Play He-Man In 'Masters Of The Universe
It seems the idea of Nicholas Galitzine becoming royalty again was perfect for Mattel and Amazon MGM Studios. The Red White and Royal Blue star has been cast as He-Man in their upcoming live action Masters of the Universe movie, currently set for release in theaters on June 5, 2026.
Camila Mendes, who plays Teela, wrote to her Instagram “that’s a wrap on MOTU 🪐♥️ getting to play teela has been one of the most exciting and challenging experiences of my career. the week of suspense between my final audition and getting the part was excruciating to say the least. but here i am almost a year later, a full-blown gym bro and converted redhead, wrapping up 7 incredible months of living like a london girl, eating like an athlete, and running around as a warrior woman!! grateful is an understatement. can’t share much at this stage, so i’ll be counting down the days until we get to show you more ✨ this will have to do for now” Teela is the captain of the royal guard and the adopted daughter of Duncan aka Man-At-Arms, the royal family’s weapons supplier. In this film, he’ll be played by Idris Elba while Morena Baccarin plays Teela’s mother the Sorceress, guardian of Castle Grayskull. In some series Teela’s suspected Prince Adam being He-Man, and also become his love interest. It’s likely this iteration follows most or all of that. The first photo in the set has her feasting on a burger and fries while still in costume, her brown hair glowing red enough for the role. She even flexes her muscles in front of a hung photo of the original series iteration of the character.
The new Masters of the Universe movie is set to be released in theaters globally on June 6, 2026 and also stars Jared Leto as Skeletor. It also features James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley as King Randor and Queen Marlena, Adam’s parents, Alison Brie as Skeletor’s top underling Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson, Hafthor Bjornsson, and Kojo Attah as Trap Jaw, Goat Man and Tri-Klops, Skeletor’s henchmen, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as the metal-armed ally Fisto, Jon Xue Zhang as RamMan and two wholly new characters: Sasheer Zamata as Suzie and Christian Vunipola as Hussein. Laika founder and Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight directs from a screenplay by Chris Butler, following initial drafts written by David Callaham, and brothers Aaron and Adam Nee. Escape Artists and Mattel Films are producing.
