No 'Home', No Fooling, Spider-Man Heads For A 'Brand New Day'
Heads FOR a 'Brand New Day'. Hope that clears up which Spider-Man series it’s about
If you thought Sony was only bringing one of their Spider-Man film series to CinemaCon this year, you would be wrong. They brought director Destin Daniel Cretton in-person and star Tom Holland via video to announce that the latter’s fourth headlining Spider-Man film, releasing on July 31, 2026 is titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, revealing the logo along with it.
“Everyday right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists of the world. How to swing, how to create an emotional story and a ride we haven’t seen before,” said Cretton, who told stories about “Spider-Man” being his toddler’s first words, and that he lost money at roulette to this Vegas event’s crowd. “They tell me it’s tradition to tell you something about the film, that no one knows. We do have a trailer even though we didn’t share anything.” He then handed it off to Holland on video.
'Elio', Next 'Spider-Man' Have Week Moves
I’m seeing a lot of movement in these parts. Last Friday, Disney moved the upcoming Pixar film Elio a week later, from June 13 to June 20. This evening, Sony moved the next Tom Holland Spider-Man movie a week later, from July 24 to July 31.
“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” said Holland, that movie being Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which he’s doing with fiancée and MJ portrayer Zendaya as well as Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway. “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
The film’s logo gives Spider-Man one of the classic comic title fonts while the Brand New Day subtitle uses the font that the Spider-Man title was in the first trilogy. The name comes from the 2008 comic storyline that followed One More Day, where Peter traded his marriage to Mary Jane Watson to Mephisto, who completely erased its existence, for Aunt May staying alive and his secret identity being secret again. The latter part was obviously the most adaptable for No Way Home, where it became a hastily-thought-through spell crafted by Doctor Strange on Peter’s request which essentially erased Peter’s identity from all record to prevent multiversal incursion brought on by the spell. While plot details are undisclosed, casting for Peter’s new status quo has begun with Sadie Sink. Even still, because four and a half years is a long benching already, Jacob Batalon and Zendaya are both expected to return as Ned and MJ and won’t have to wait until the next film for them to come back into Peter’s life.
“I really wish I could introduce you to our entire team who are working their bloods off for this,” Cretton said. “They are incredible, and you will see their amazing work when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits your theaters.”
'Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse' Finally Spins A 2027 Release Date Out Of CinemaCon
