Paramount+ Gives 'MobLand' Its Trailer Fix
The Pierce Brosnan-Tom Hardy-starring series premieres March 30
Just about a week ago, Paramount+ revealed a much snappier title, MobLand, for a series that had started out as a Ray Donovan spinoff at Showtime called The Donovans but had become a standalone series free of any franchise ties called The Associate and cast Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan. Now readying a March 30 premiere on the streamer in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, it was time to release a trailer. And on Tuesday, less than 4 weeks to premiere, we got it.
“My wife’s the brains behind the charm. She holds me together,” Brosnan’s Conrad Harrigan, “the head of a very successful Irish crime family based out of London for whom Harry works” says in the trailer, set to The Rolling Stones’s “Sympathy For the Devil”, after declaring he’s a family man who warns that if you cross the family, you better pray. Shake the right hands, break the wrong ones. They take and don’t ask. “That makes her the most dangerous of all.” Said trailer is bloody, filled with guns strong narration. “Power is a hungry thing, and there’s always a rat bastard looking to take what’s mine,” Brosnan finishes.
Former 'Ray Donovan' Spinoff 'The Associate' Becomes 'MobLand', Shifts From Showtime To Paramount+ For March Premiere
Days off of a year ago, it was reported Showtime was developing a Ray Donovan spinoff called The Donovans with Guy Ritchie attached to direct and executive produce. By the end of October, it was revealed to be called The Associate, shed its place as a
The official series description states that the show is “centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.” Hardy will play Harry Da Souza, described as “a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family.” The logline meanwhile reads “Power is up for grabs as the Harrigans and Stevensons, two warring London crime families, clash in a kill-or-be-killed battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives. Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Souza (Hardy), the street-smart ‘fixer’ as dangerous as he is handsome, who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide. As kingdom goes up against kingdom, lines will be crossed — and the only saving grace is a bet-your-life guarantee: family above everything.”
Mirren is Maeve Harrigan, Conrad’s wife and the Harrigan family matriarch. Joanne Froggatt will play Jan Da Souza, Harry’s wife, while Paddy Considine will play Kevin Harrigan, the son in the family with a family of his own, like Lara Pulver as Kevin’s wife Bella, Anson Boon as his rebellious son Eddie, Mandeep Dhillon as daughter Seraphina, and Jasmine Jobson as Zosia, who works for Harry and is one of his closest associates. It also stars Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan and Emily Barber.
MobLand is executive produced by Ritchie, Hardy, Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, Jez Butterworth, Ronan Bennett, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari. It is produced in association with MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
