I saw the ‘80s movie in the theater. Fathom Event. Was slowly getting into the franchise, but that showing had a featurette for the then-upcoming Bumblebee, and it convinced me to go see it. Such a fun film. I was hooked. As for the original, I definitely got why people dug it and held it so close
Took 38 years to get them back on the big screen in that fashion. I think ending Transformers Prime when they did, which to be fair was a standard point, while letting MLP go on indefinitely, brought an imbalance to the Hub Network that I think contributed to its collapse by the end of 2014. Sure there might be more corporate reasons not related to the shows themselves but it couldn’t have helped.
