Paramount+ Unveils First Look And Premiere Date For 'Pet Sematary: Bloodlines' Film
The latest Stephen King adaptation is the directorial debut of Lindsey Anderson Beer
This Halloween, a Stephen King adaptation releases as a Paramount+ original once again. The streamer has released first look images for Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, and announced it will premiere on the service on October 6 exclusively in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Brazil. It will premiere on Saturday, October 7 in the rest of the streamer's international markets.
It is a prequel to King's Pet Sematary, seemingly more directly to the original story than to either previous adaptation, released by Paramount Pictures in 1989 and 2019 respectively. The author has called the novel his scariest property. The film, as an exclusive to the service, will likely be headlining this year’s Paramount+ Peak Screaming collection that curates fan favorite horror movies and iconic Halloween episodes from beloved series.
The film's official synopsis goes: "In 1969, a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path.” It stars Ambulance's Jackson White, E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial's Henry Thomas, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Tell Me A Story's Natalie Alyn Lind, and Isabella Star LaBlanc, with Pam Grier, best known for Foxy Brown and Jackie Brown, and The X Files and Californication's David Duchovny.
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is the directorial debut of Lindsey Anderson Beer, from a script written by her and Jeff Buhler. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian produce. Previously in the streamer's history, a second miniseries adaptation of The Stand premiered in December 2020 when the name was still CBS All Access as an original. The original Pet Sematary film is also streaming on the service, with other King adaptations The Dead Zone and the CBS series Under the Dome. Check out the poster below.
