'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Sets 'Curse' For Season 3 With Renewal At Disney+
Disney seas the future for this series going beyond the monsters which will come in December
It has officially been confirmed that we have quite a while until the premiere of the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+. However, the streamer has given the greenlight for the show to go beyond the Sea of Monsters by ordering a third season of the series based on Rick Riordan’s books.
The third season will appropriately be based on The Titan’s Curse, the third book in the source series. Season two, based on Sea of Monsters, wrapped back in August, but the early renewal makes sense as Disney wouldn’t want their child actors to age out of the roles and thus look to expedite further seasons to accommodate their ages. Streaming television’s habits of garnering gaps of multiple years between seasons risks a scenario where their stars are much older than the characters they are portraying and thus is best avoided. Riordan has already expressed his desire to tell an individual book’s story alone per season. While an exact cast list for the season doesn’t quite seem formalized, TVLine of course lists Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Athena’s daughter Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri as satyr Grover Underwood, who are our main trio, but also Charlie Bushnell as Hermes’s son Luke Castellan, Dior Goodjohn as Ares’ daughter Clarisse La Rue and Daniel Diemer as Percy’s half-brother Tyson. Season three will introduce Nico di Angelo and Bianca di Angelo, children of Hades, with casting to come.
Disney+ Grants ‘Percy Jackson' The Sea Of Monsters With Season 2 Renewal
Oh gods, we’re going back to Camp Half-Blood. Disney+ has officially renewed the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series for a second season.
“From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis says in a statement. “With Season 2 set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.”
Riordan added “We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”
December’s Sea of Monsters-based season takes place one year later, when Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood to find his world completely transformed. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, Grover has gone missing, he has a cyclops brother, and camp is under siege from Kronos and his forces. Percy’s journey to fix it all will take him into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits him. A December premiere means it’s going to share the month with Marvel Television’s Wonder Man. That leaked graphic of the 2025 Disney+ slate put the Doctor Who spinoff The War Between the Land and the Sea between them. would also seemingly leave November without anything premiering so it remains to be seen what’s going on there.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians was one of the top five most-watched original series across all streaming after its December 2023 launch, according to Nielsen. The series was created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, who executive produce with Dan Shotz, Riordan’s wife Rebecca, Craig Silverstein, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler and Sarah Watson.
