'Phineas And Ferb' Season 5 Trailer Busts Out Sub Submarines And Gecko Gear In A Brand New Summer
Baby we’re back, I know what we’re gonna watch today
Summer phinally belongs to you again as Disney Channel and Disney+ have released the season five trailer for their hit series Phineas and Ferb, mere days after co-creator Dan Povenmire showed their hand by too blatantly hinting that his number Easter eggs over nearly 40 videos was counting down to the return date. And it has been confirmed that the season will premiere on June 5 at 8 PM on Disney Channel, a week shy of ten years since the series finale “Last Day of Summer” in 2015.
The logline reads “The new season of Phineas and Ferb will follow the inventive step-brothers as they tackle another 104 days of summer. Candace is more determined than ever to finally bust her little brothers while their pet platypus, Perry, continues to lead a double life as the suave Agent P, whose sole mission is to thwart Dr. Doofenshmirtz from taking over the Tri-State area.” It will also feature “exciting new adventures” and “unforgettable milestones” like the boys breaking several world records, Candace taking her driver’s license test, and Perry visiting the veterinarian. When the revival was announced, it was basically assured it was a joint Disney Channel/Disney+ thing, and this is assured here as the entire first half of the season, ten episodes, will be going up on the streamer next day, June 6. The minutelong trailer features such ideas as sledding on a water wheel as Candace gets ready to bust again. Dr. Doofenshmirtz has indeed relapsed, but also introduced social media to the show. New adventures, new songs, new inators, new shenanigans and new inventions like gecko gear, a bread bowl hot tub, a sub sandwich submarine, giant darts, a mechanical hand, and disco outfits before being topped off with the first song of the new season, “Summer Is Starting Right Now”, that’s been played already to certain audiences.
I’ve Figured Out When 'Phineas And Ferb' Comes Back!
Ferb, I know what the trades don’t today. Dan Povenmire is the co-creator of the hit Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb. He is definitely the bigger of the two on social media with a huge following on Instagram and TikTok that blew up over the pandemic. And he managed to say something about the future of his animated series in a way that li…
A special sneak peek will debut Monday, May 26, at 11:35 AM ET/PT on Disney Channel, Disney XD, and the Disney Channel YouTube channel. The new season’s original soundtrack, including 13 songs, will also be available Friday, June 6, on your usual digital marketplaces. But that’s not all! There will be new short series too, like Take Two with Phineas and Ferb getting a spiritual successor as new interview series Cartoonified with Phineas and Ferb uses the iconic animation style of the series instead of mixing their animation with the live action celebrities. Then there’s “Agent P, Under C” which sees Perry on a new undercover mission to stop animal enemies from rival spy organization A.N.A.T.H.E.M.A. (the Alliance of Nefarious Animals That Has an Exceptionally Memorable Acronym). And who could forget continued presences on “How Not To Draw” and Theme Song Takeover. After all, not only did Dr. Doofenshmirtz do the first official Theme Song Takeover with Milo Murphy’s Law, as well as the most recent with Phineas and Ferb itself. Phineas and Ferb was also one of four Disney Channel shows that had their theme song sung by Alex Hirsch as Grunkle Stan for April Fools’ Day 2018, an obvious Theme Song Takeover prototype. A continued and possibly expanded presence in Chibiverse is expected.
Phineas and Ferb’s two-season continuation order was first announced in January 2023, fulfilling a promise by higher-ups meant for their follow-up show Milo Murphy’s Law based on high Disney+ performance, while Povenmire was already on his third overall but first solo DTVA series Hamster & Gretel. Povenmire and co-creating partner Jeff “Swampy” Marsh said at SCAD TVfest’s “Disney Branded Television: Storytelling from Preschool to Families” panel, where the vaguer summer window was revealed “Since Phineas and Ferb is essentially a celebration of summer vacation, summer is the perfect time to debut the new season. We have had such a great time diving back into this world and the entire cast and crew have really brought their A-game. We cannot wait to see fans’ reactions to what is shaping up to be our favorite season yet. The series originally debuted to the world with “Rollercoaster” on Disney Channel’s highest-rated night ever in August 2007, with another “preview” episode or two on the path to its official February 2008 premiere, with a new single 11-minute episode nightly for most of that month. It is easily the company’s biggest animated series in terms of merchandise, becoming the #1 animated TV series of 2009 among tweens 9-14. The series’ ratings grew to #1 among both kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 in 2011. The first TV movie Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension premiered as the eighth-highest rated Disney Channel Original Movie ever. The numerous specials throughout its run included the aforementioned series finale “The Last Day of Summer” in June 2015, and a “The OWCA Files” backdoor pilot aired that fall, with the original run ultimately being four seasons and about 130 episodes. As previously detailed, there were various fashions by which the show never truly went away, and the first peak of that everlasting presence was the 2020 second film Candace Against the Universe.
The cast will continue to star Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn, David Errigo Jr. as Ferb (for his first official series episodes), Caroline Rhea as Linda Flynn-Fletcher, Ashley Tisdale as Candace Flynn, Dee Bradley Baker as Perry the Platypus, Povenmire as Doofenshmirtz and Marsh as Major Monogram and Alyson Stoner as Isabella Garcia-Shapiro. Richard O’Brien as Lawrence Fletcher, Kelly Hu as Stacy, Bobby Gaylor as Buford, Maulik Pancholy as Baljeet, and Tyler Mann as Karl Carl are basically confirmed by the trailer, though they’re not mentioned in the press release. What is mentioned is that the new season will carry its predecessors’ pedigree of guest stars from all walks of celebrity. The one previously revealed is Alan Cumming. Oh, and the video that said too much? Deleted from Instagram, still on Povenmire’s YouTube.
