Asajj Ventress And Cad Bane Bring 'Tales Of The Underworld' To Star Wars Day
Another season of the 'Tales' anthology premieres on Disney+ May 4
Oh you thought the Tales of the Star Wars universe were over? Not before a familiar yellow lightsaber had anything to say about it. Lucasfilm and Disney+ announced Tuesday Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, bringing back the Tales anthology series that was previously Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire, revisiting fan-favorite characters for important and previously untold stories for a third round, now starring Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. It premieres on May 4, 2025 for Star Wars Day, the same occasion that Tales of the Empire did.
Tales of the Underworld, like its predecessors, will run for six episodes, three for each of the featured bounty hunters: former dark side assassin Asajj Ventress, last seen in the third and final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch and voiced once again by Nika Futterman as she is given “a new chance at life before she must go on the run with an unexpected new ally”, and outlaw Cad Bane, voiced once again by Corey Burton, last making his live action debut in The Book of Boba Fett as he “faces his past when he confronts an old friend, now a marshal on the other side of the law”.
'Star Wars: Tales Of The Empire' Gets A Grievous Sneak Peek
The upcoming week is going to be pretty significant for Star Wars, with The Bad Batch’s series finale releasing Wednesday, and Saturday being Star Wars Day. While not the most packed edition, the franchise is still set to premiere the Tales of the Jedi
The new trailer shows how Ventress and Bane are surviving in the shadow of the Empire. Ventress now wears a tattered cloak and ignites her saber to face a mysterious red-bladed enemy while a young Padawan copes with life in the aftermath of Order 66. Taking his iconic hat, Bane finds himself in another tense blaster fight as steelpeckers circle overhead, ready for another standoff with a fallen former friend. The poster meanwhile showcases new characters and reveals the returning Theelin bounty hunter Latts Razzi, who debuted in The Clone Wars. Appropriately, a bounty hunter-centric series centerpiece doesn’t use the Jedi Order symbol or the Imperial cog emblem, but that for credits, the franchise’s currency.
Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez also star, though their characters have not been revealed. The Tales anthology was created by Star Wars mainstay and Lucasfilm COO Dave Filoni, who also serves as the supervising director and an executive producer along with Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck. Written seemingly entirely by Matt Michnovetz (they use “the”!), Josh Rimes is co-executive producer, Alex Spotswood the senior producer. Tales of the Underworld premieres on Disney+ on May 4, 2025.
'Star Wars: Visions' Returning For Third Volume
Disney and Lucasfilm have affirmed their greater vision for Star Wars: Visions. The animated anthology series will be back for a third volume. Despite the long silence following the Star Wars Day release of the second volume last year, it’ll be far sooner to see the next, as a 2025 premiere has been promised on Disney+ as usual. It was announced shortly…
