'Pokémon Concierge' Will Return; New Episodes In Production
More stop-motion Pokémon vacationing is on its way to Netflix
This week, American Pokémon fans were supposed to be getting their first drop of Pokémon Horizons episodes on Netflix, though that’s had to be coped with for over a month now. Despite that, it seems this week still needed Netflix-related Pokémon news, and it seems that’s been delivered on. The Pokémon Company announced on their socials that new episodes of their former limited series, the stop-motion Pokémon Concierge are in production.
Their tweet reads “Exciting news, Trainers! New episodes of Pokémon Concierge are in production! Stay tuned for updates! 🏖”. The Instagram version included an “OMG” in the caption. The avoidance of explicit renewal language or Netflix’s part in the process is interesting but that could always be elaborated on in the updates we’re supposed to stay tuned for. At the time of the announcement, Pokémon Day is just 8 days from coming around again, and it was last Pokémon Day where the series was first announced. It is incredibly likely the first round of details will be shared there.
With no details, we don’t know yet whether we’ll be following Haru again or how much of a new staff we’ll be getting, but this former miniseries animated by Dwarf Studio debuted all four initial episodes on December 28. The logline read “When Pokémon need a break, they head to a peaceful resort to relax, looked after by a team of Pokémon concierges”. The English and Japanese casts included Karen Fukuhara and Non as Haru, Josh Keaton and Eita Okuno as Tyler, Imani Hakim and Fairouz Ai as Alisa, and Lori Alan and Yoshiko Takemura as Watanabe. Pokémon Concierge is directed by Ogawa Iku from a screenplay by Doki Harumi, with concept art and character design by Uesugi Tadahiro. Pokémon Day is February 27, the anniversary of the release of the original Pokémon Red and Green Versions in Japan. Last year also saw the release of Pokémon Sleep confirmed and the Scarlet and Violet “Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” DLC confirmed.
