The Opening Sequence For 'Rick And Morty: The Anime' Has Been Unveiled
Wubba lubba sub sub? There are still no crows here
During the Rick and Morty 10th anniversary panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the crew of the show not only discussed what they could about the main show, but the anime spinoff Rick and Morty: The Anime, where they revealed the opening sequence for the first time.
The opening theme is titled "Love Is Entropy", written and arranged by Japanese group OTONEZ. It is sung by Japanese group CODE OF ZERO member 0C and Cameron Earnshaw. It’s a very vibrant intro, starting with some very isekai poses for Morty as he’s grabbed in midair by a blonde girl. Neon Rick gives devil horns with a very Simpsons yellow skin. There’s trippy visuals and bright, colorful and thick-fonted credits in a stark contrast to the main show. The logo is the same but however, with a red The Anime subtitle accompanying. Federation officers and Space Beth appear, as does Morty’s home Cronenberged dimension in the state it was in in the season six premiere “Solaricks”. Morty, Jerry and Rick lose their irises and gain mouth beams in a very metalish part. Morty gets a suit to fight a cyclopsy alien with, as the blonde girl catches his eye, seemingly his love interest in this show. And running sequences make the universe.
Rick and Morty: The Anime is produced by Jason DeMarco of Adult Swim, serving as Senior Vice President for Anime & Action Series/Longform for Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, and Joseph Chou of Sola Entertainment, the company handling general production. Animation production is by Telecom Animation Film. The intro is followed by director's commentary by Takashi Sano, who previously directed Tower of God.
The series stars Yōhei Tadano as Rick, Keisuke Chiba as Morty, Manabu Muraji as Jerry, Akiha Matsui as Summer, and Jun Irie as Beth Smith, and is expected to premiere on Adult Swim by the end of the year with ten episodes, like the main show’s seasons have run.
