Warner Bros. Releases Trailers For 'Justice League: Warworld' and the 'Venture Bros.' Movie
The Tomorrowverse continues and Dean and Rusty's adventures finally get their proper end
You very well may be aware that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has continued to be the home of direct-to-video films from the company. That they may be the biggest name player in a market that’s largely been left behind. This past week, they released two trailers for upcoming R-rated releases: Justice League: Warworld and The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart.
Justice League: Warworld is the seventh next entry in the Tomorrowverse continuity of direct-to-video DC animated films. This time, Batman, voiced by Jensen Ackles, Wonder Woman, voiced by Stana Katic, and Superman, voiced by Darren Criss, are trapped on Warworld. They are further isolated in arenas based on different eras in Earth's history. Bruce’s is prehistoric, so he ends up in caveman attire, possibly with Aquaman, Diana becomes a Wild West gunslinger who comes across Jonah Hex, and Clark becomes a 1940s detective possibly tasked with hunting Martians. The film has no release date yet, but is expected within 2023 on digital, 4K UHD and Blu-ray. The previous film, Legion of Super-Heroes, took three months from its February release to get to Max, so it may follow that pattern.
This is further enforced by the release plan for The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart, the film serving as the series finale to the Adult Swim classic The Venture Brothers, which had run for seven seasons over 15 years from 2003 to 2018. It had been renewed for an eighth and final season that ended up being canceled. The film is the second of three Adult Swim-based DTV ventures following Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Plantasm. A Metalocalypse film, announced alongside the other two, will complete the trio. The film is directed and co-written by the series creator Jackson Publick aka Chris McCulloch and writer Doc Hammer, who serve as the film's executive producers.
Its logline reads “A nationwide manhunt for Hank Venture leads to untold dangers and unexpected revelations, while The Monarch is literally out for Dr Venture’s blood. An imposing evil from the past reemerges to wreak havoc on the Ventures, The Guild, and even the Monarch marriage—it will take friends and foes alike to restore the Ventures’ world to order… or end it once and for all.”
The film stars the returning James Urbaniak as Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture, Michael Sinterniklaas as Dean Venture, Patrick Warburton as Brock Samson, McCulloch as Hank Venture, The Monarch, Sgt. Hatred, Pete White, Gen. Hunter Gathers, H.E.L.P.eR., and The Pirate Captain, and Hammer as Dr. Mrs. The Monarch, Henchman 21, Billy Quizboy, and Shore Leave. Also starring are Nina Arianda as Mantilla, Clancy Brown as Red Death, John Hodgman as Snoopy, Hal Lublin as Clayton, Jane Lynch as Bobbi St. Simone, Charles Parnell as Jefferson Twilight, Jay Pharoah as Nuno Blood, Steven Rattazzi as Dr. Orpheus, J.K. Simmons as Ben, and Dana Snyder as The Alchemist.
The Venture Bros: Radiant Is The Blood Of The Baboon Heart is set to release digitally on July 21 and on Blu-ray on July 25, and then 90 days later on Max, with a linear airing on Adult Swim. It’s an obligation across the nation. While the release date wasn’t given in the trailer, it has started to be listed on digital marketplaces like Amazon, where such was discovered.
