'My Adventures With Superman' Premiere Date Set By Adult Swim, Releases Trailer
Originally announced for Cartoon Network, it's getting next-day Max releases
In one month, Superman will be an animated headliner again. My Adventures With Superman will premiere on Thursday, July 6 at midnight ET on Adult Swim with back-to-back episodes.
It stars Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Jack Quaid as the big blue boy scout, the Man of Steel, Superman, with Alice Lee as Lois Lane (looking to many like an adult Luz Noceda from The Owl House) and Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy Olsen. It’s a coming-of-age story for these twentysomethings, especially Clark, whom this full trailer shows way more of, from going on a jog to catching Lois, presumably seeing one another for the first time, to even saving a civilian in midair, and Lois is eager for an interview. It turns out that Clark and Jimmy start as Lois’s interns at the Daily Planet, accompanying her on investigations as they slowly become solid journalist teammates. Jimmy and Lois become entangled in Superman’s confrontations and she becomes determined to find out who he is.
Not only will the show have that Thursday midnight slot, but the Friday 7 PM Eastern and Toonami Saturday midnight Eastern slots as well as Max arrivals just a few hours after airing in that early Friday morning. If that sounds at all familiar, that’s because it’s exactly the airing model in use by Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, which premiered last month and also moved from Cartoon Network to Adult Swim. My Adventures with Superman seems to be the direct timeslot successor.
The series was ordered back over two years ago in May 2021, on the same day as Batman: Caped Crusader. Both series, as well as Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, were intended for the Acme Night block until Max (then-HBO branded) dropped it and Amazon eventually picked it up for Prime Video. The trailer is below.
