Showtime Unveils Trailer For 'The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial', William Friedkin's Last Movie

The film premieres over the October 6 weekend

Showtime has released the trailer for their upcoming original film The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, adapting a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel written by Herman Wouk. It serves as the last film written and directed by famed The Exorcist director William Friedkin, who died on August 7 at the age of 87.

Acquired after premiering at the Venice Film Festival, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial will premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime, as well as the Showtime app for those who haven’t jumped yet on Friday, October 6, before a linear premiere on Sunday, October 8. It is coincidentally premiering on the same weekend the Exorcist franchise picks back up again with The Exorcist: Believer, having moved up a week to have some box office viability before Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie destroys it on presales alone.

Previously adapted very quickly into a Humphrey Bogart-starring 1954 film by Columbia Pictures, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial centers on the trial of Lt. Steve Maryk, a young first Officer played by Jake Lacy. He is accused of leading a mutiny on a U.S Navy minesweeper operating in the Persian Gulf, after believing that its long-serving, disciplinarian captain, Lt. Philip Francis Queeg played by Kiefer Sutherland, has become mentally unfit. Barney Greenwald, played by Jason Clarke, is the skeptical Navy lawyer who reluctantly agrees to defend him, and as the trial goes on slowly realizes how right his client may be. The film also stars Lance Reddick, Monica Raymund, Lewis Pullman, Jay Duplass and Tom Riley.

Internationally, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial will be released on Paramount+, at least on all tiers for the other countries where the service is live, including Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and South Korea.
