'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Season 3 Trailer Released; Mission To Complete After Season 5
One series. Not so infinite adventures. Fewer to close, even.
As Paramount hopes to dance with the skies, they’ve brought an end in sight to yet another Star Trek mission. Just a few days after the season 3 trailer for Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was released, which itself was a few days after the season’s episode titles were released, it has been announced by all relevant parties that the series starring Captain Pike’s Enterprise will end with its fifth season. A bit ironic for a show whose articles on the franchise website whose recent article subtitles surrounding the series have been “One series. Infinite Adventures.”
While the five-season run could’ve been expected as those were the ending point for both Discovery and Lower Decks, what was not expected is it’s a truncated six-episode final season. Seasons three and four are still ten episodes. “From the very beginning, Strange New Worlds set out to honor what Star Trek has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible,” said showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, alongside fellow executive producer Alex Kurtzman in a joint statement. “We’re deeply grateful to Paramount+ for the chance to complete our five-season mission, just as we envisioned it, alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. And to the passionate fans who’ve boldly joined us on this journey — THANK YOU. With three more spectacular seasons ahead for you to see and enjoy, this adventure is far from over.”
'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Sets Season 3 Premiere Date
I have fallen so behind on many Paramount+ things, like Criminal Minds: Evolution and SkyMed season 3s getting premiere dates that have now both come to pass, but this I refuse to be. It’s been a month since the teaser for the third season of the streamer’s sole active
Season four is currently in production, while the third season is set to premiere with two episodes on July 17 and is already confirmed to run through September 11. The season premieres with “Hegemony” Part II, confirming an immediate pickup from where we left the crew last. Released alongside it will be Wedding Bell Blues”. July 24 brings “Shuttle to Kenfori”, and will be followed by “A Space Adventure Hour”, “Through the Lens of Time”, “The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail”, “What Is Starfleet?”, “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans”, “Terrarium”, and that September 11 season finale “New Life and New Civilizations”. Admittedly, the trailer does not give away too much but it shows a lot of action. No wonder the big guys didn’t give a play-by-play. Even the season description follows the “conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn” with “But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve.”
Long the assumption has been that Strange New Worlds would meet up with the original series in the timeline, and Goldsman has previously said there’s a plan “Left to our own devices — which really means if Paramount will [let us] — we’ll keep going into the TOS era. And we know how. That’s the hope.” Still, in current scenario, Strange New Worlds
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds It stars, in addition to Anson Mount as Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, Melissa Navia as Lt. Kirk continue as guest stars with Rhys Darby and Patton Oswalt, Melanie Scrofano as Batel, and Cillian O’Sullivan as Roger Korby. What this cast will look like for the last hurrah requires watching the path there to find out. Aaron Baiers, Dana Horgan, Davy Perez, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Chris Fisher, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth also serve as executive producers. On SkyShowtime, which serves in the Nordics, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Central and Eastern Europe, season three will premiere on August 4.
