'The Sandman' Brings A Dream Ending With Official Trailer
The Netflix series's final season rolls out over July
It’s almost time for beddy bye for The Sandman. Netflix has released the official trailer for the second and final season of the series based on the DC comic.
The trailer sees Dream, played by Tom Sturridge battling not for his and The Dreaming’s survival, as the world seems to be crashing down all around him. Everything changes when an Endless changes. As Death, played by Kirby, says at one point, “Everyone loves a good story, but all stories come to an end.” And this one may very well be meteoric for the entire world.
'The Sandman' Reveals Final Season Episode Titles And Bonus Episode For True Finale Date
It’s only been three days since Tudum, Netflix’s promotional event, where there were two more things I still intend to cover, but for a two hour show it didn’t quite feel packed with enough reveals. And yet the premiere date for the second season of
The season’s main 11 episodes will release on July 6 and 24, with a respective six and five split. The former six chapters are “Season of Mists”, “The Ruler of Hell”, “More Devils Than Vast Hell Can Hold”, “Brief Lives”, “The Song of Orpheus”, and “Family Blood”, while Volume 2’s 5 episodes on the latter date are “Time and Night”, “Fuel for the Fire”, “The Kindly Ones”, “Long Live the King”, and “A Tale of Graceful Ends”. The series’s true end is a Death-centric bonus episode called “The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living”, which will be released on July 31.
The season’s logline reads “After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything. Based on the beloved award-winning DC comic series, the second season of The Sandman will tell Dream’s story arc in full to its thrilling conclusion.” It is set to adapt fan-favorite comic storylines including the Season of Mists, Brief Lives, The Kindly Ones, and The Sandman: Overture collections, as well as single-issue stories including Tales in the Sand, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Song of Orpheus, Thermidor, and The Tempest.
This second season also stars Mason Alexander Park as Desire, and Donna Preston as Despair, Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Ferdinand Kingsley as Hob Gadling, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker and the aforementioned Razane Jammal as Lyta Hall. They are joined by Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny, Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal”, Ruairi O’Connor as Orpheus, as also mentioned by Heinberg, Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan, Jack Gleeson as Puck, Indya Moore as Wanda and Steve Coogan as the voice of Barnabas the dog. Allan Heinberg is the showrunner.
