Thirteenth Doctor And Yaz Get A Goddamn Bite For Their First Audio Adventure
Everybody’s working brilliantly for the weekend creature of the night
It’s not going to be a normal weekend for the first Doctor Who audio dramas to star Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker and her companion Yasmin Khan, played by Mandip Gill. Big Finish, the producer of the franchise’s audio dramas, has announced story details for the first of The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures, Vampire Weekend releasing in July and written by Tim Foley.
The synopsis first described that Yaz has been busy with her TARDIS travels, and it would do her good to take a break, spend time at home in Sheffield and catch up with friends, and Gina’s hen do should be the perfect opportunity. But the Doctor and a vampire are tagging along. Put another way, It’s Gina’s hen-do and her Maid of Honour has booked a large manor in the Peak District. All her friends should be here – including Yasmin Khan, who’s been mysteriously quiet whilst away on her travels. But Yaz is bringing a guest. Someone who isn’t invited. Someone who might prove a little disruptive. The Doctor is joining the celebrations. Unfortunately, so is an ancient enemy.
Jodie Whittaker Returns As The Thirteenth Doctor’s Big Finish Adventures Begin In 2025
Oh brilliant! Jodie Whittaker is tagging back in. Nearly two years since regenerating into David Tennant’s returning face in “The Power of the Doctor”, it’s now her turn to return, though this time for Big Finish Productions’s beloved Doctor Who audio dramas. A full series of Thirteenth Doctor audio dramas have been announced by them in partnership with…
Foley said: “I’m delighted to sink my teeth into a whole new era (vampire pun). We had a riot making this story – Jodie and Mandip could star in a sitcom as themselves, they’re so funny, and their chemistry is amazing. Vampire Weekend is a darkly comic manor-house mystery – think Bodies Bodies Bodies or a northern Cluedo, smushed with a hen party you’re trying to get out of. I hope this tale captures the Thirteenth Doctor’s madcap, fast-paced energy – right before she’s launched into a brand-new series like a technicolour pinball. Enjoy the jokes, the mini quiche, and the paranoia. But watch out! There’s a mysterious bloodsucker on the loose…”. The story also stars Daniel Walford as Daryl, Anna Crichlow as Zoya and Kat, Jeremy Ang Jones as Mason, and Mandi Symonds as Gina’s mother.
Jodie Whittaker debuted as the first female incarnation of the Doctor at the end of the 2017 Christmas special “Twice Upon A Time”, when Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor regenerated. She starred in 31 episodes across three series (11 to 13) from October 2018 to October 2022 from showrunner Chris Chibnall, with series 13’s main Flux story airing six episodes from October to December 2021, before 2022 was populated by three specials, a split necessitated by COVID-related production adjustments. She’s gotten ahead of both immediate predecessors Capaldi and Matt Smith before him in terms of any sort of return. Yaz was the only companion to be along for every televised Thirteenth Doctor adventure (though they spent much of Flux separated), and developed romantic feelings for her.
In their post-Who lives, Whittaker most recently starred in the Netflix limited series Toxic Town, which released in February, and Gill is set to star on the BBC sitcom Can You Keep a Secret? with Dawn French, which is set to be a Paramount+ series in the United States.
'Rick And Morty' Coughs Up Season 8 Trailer
Easter may be over, but that’s not going to stop Adult Swim from cutting a Rick and Morty season 8 trailer that seems to be chock full of scenes from the fourth episode “The Last Temptation of Jerry”, which has been the most promoted of the episodes so far, no doubt for seasonal reasons. Releasing said trailer the day after Easter Monday (which is recog…
