Wake Up, The Title For The 2025 'Knives Out' Mystery Just Dropped
Benoit Blanc is BACK! And he’s making comas fashionable!
This is the reality: Knives Out writer-director Rian Johnson has announced the title for the third installment in the murder mystery series. It’s called Wake Up Dead Man, coming in 2025 to Netflix with production just about to begin and Daniel Craig returning as detective Benoit Blanc.
Johnson continues to write and direct, posting a teaser to his socials that Netflix itself also posted Friday morning. Narrated by Craig, he says “In the beginning, the knives came out. Then, behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed,” referencing the progression of the series thus far with the aforementioned Knives Out from 2019 and 2022’s Glass Onion. Said announcement was heralded by the egg hatching prompt screen in Pokémon Go. Before hatching the title reveal, Johnson tweeted “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”

What’s new, Scooby-Doo? We’ll see you back in CG soon? On April 25, Max released the second season of the current series in the 55-year-old franchise, the adult-oriented Velma, the same day Netflix premiered their latest series with Berlanti Productions,
Wake Up Dead Man fulfills the second of Netflix’s two-sequel deal with Johnson worth $450 million. While Knives Out got theatrical distribution by Lionsgate, leading to $312 million at the global box office, a Netflix release would usually mean no theatrical release, but the limited one it got, earning $13 million, was still rather rightly controversial for its brevity. Johnson is of course otherwise known for directing Star Wars: The Last Jedi and creating the Peacock series Poker Face. The title reveal can be watched below.
