'Five Nights At Freddy’s 2' Announced And Dated For A December To Remem-Bear
Universal has additionally dated and redated Blumhouse’s 2025 slate
Ready for another bite at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza? Universal and Blumhouse confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the sequel to last year's Five Nights at Freddy's was in the works back at CinemaCon in April. They didn’t give much detail, except for a fall 2025 release date. However, both backer parties have laid out a 2025 slate for the horror studio’s films, and it has indicated that it’s more…snowfall.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has been given a December 5, 2025 release date, and the tagline “Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances”. Returning cast is unannounced, but William Afton actor Matthew Lillard is already following through on the promise his character made as he seemingly met his end: He always comes back. Finally achieving release last October simultaneously in theaters and on Peacock after 8 years developing an adaptation of the popular video game, the film made $297 million globally. That made it Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film of all time. Josh Hutcherson starred as Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza’s newest nighttime security guard, where the animatronics are prone to murder. It is unknown if they will replicate the day-and-date Peacock release for this go-round.
Dates have also changed for two other highly anticipated sequels: M3GAN 2.0 moves six weeks from May 16 to June 27, 2025, taking over the date of The Black Phone 2, which moves to October 17, 2025. The first films made $180 million and $160 million at the box office respectively. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will both be back for the second face-off against the campy, chaotic AI-like doll. The Black Phone saw Ethan Hawke star as a masked serial killer who abducts and torments Finney a teenage boy played by Mason Thames. They’re both back, as are Violet’s sister Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora. Scott Derrickson returns to direct, co-writing the script with C. Robert Cargill. Elsewhere on the slate, The Woman in the Yard has been set for March 28 and Drop for April 11, 2025. No plot synopses have been released for any of the reported films, not even the two originals.
