Grin And Fazbear Universal's 'Five Nights At Freddy's' Teaser Trailer
It's got enough Chucky cheese to last you
After long anticipation, the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is coming this year. With an October release date in sight, Universal has released the teaser trailer for the Blumhouse horror film, giving fans a chance to see how the animatronics translate their designs to film.
The teaser opens with a retro fictional ad for Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, the Chuck E. Cheese’s-like establishment the film and source material takes place in, getting a glimpse of what was before cutting to the abandoned grounds of modern-day. Mike Schmidt, played by Josh Hutcherson, arrives as Freddy’s newly selected bodyguard. The marquee sign lights up, as Mike gets restrained in a safety restraint chair as he’s approached by an open-faced animatronic with screws and drills inside. There’s a glimpse of Matthew Lillard’s William Afton in his office. Maniacal laughter set to staring, running, hiding, screaming and cowering.
Based on the video game franchise created by Scott Cawthon which released its first entry in 2014 it quickly became a juggernaut. In most installments, players must survive constant attacks by hostile animatronic characters inside the haunted Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant, using security cameras, lights, and doors to survey the area. Development on the Five Nights at Freddy’s film began at Warner Bros. in 2015 with its announcement before moving to Blumhouse and Universal in 2017 and restarting from there. Filming took place from February to March. It also stars Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, and Mary Stuart Masterson. The animatronic designs and technology are provided by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Five Nights At Freddy’s is scheduled for a day-and-date release on October 27 in theaters and on Peacock as other Blumhouse productions have seen. You can watch the teaser below.
